Hello everyone, looking for a step by step guide to install a viper 5704 with a dball bypass D2D hookup on a 2010 silverado. I know with the latest firmware on the dball you no longer need the rf loop in the ignition. The truck has factory remote start, didn`t know if I could just leave that alone or if I have to disable it. Pics would also be a big help. Any help would be greatly appreciated, doesn`t look like I have to hook up to many wires if I go the D2D route.
I have not used a DBALL in these trucks but, I have used a flashlogic module. Even with the rf antenna loop it is super simple and under 8 wires to the truck you can have a full alarm/keyless/remote starter. I HIGHLY reccomend using Wire 2 Wire, not D2D. There are so many issues with that method you will end up redoing it all later. Make solid connections you can trust, and life will be alot simpler in the future. The problem is most bypass's and remote starts don't operate very well in data mode and data collisions are far too common. Usually resulting in partial or total freezing of the computers inside requiring you to constantly unplug and reprogram the modules. As far as flashlogic goes, if you call with an issue, and tell them you are using D2D the first thing they tell you is change to W2W.
There are several large red and RED / black power wires near the steering column. I use the RED / black that comes off the back of the drivers side fuse box. The ignition, accessory, and passlock wires are at the column and are easy to trace after removing the column cover. Use the light blue/white brake wire in the trailer brake harness (located under and behind the BCM), not the brake wire at the bcm. This brake wire tests only with ignition turned on, but will work fine. Use the parking light negative wire at the switch, usually light blue. There was a feedback issue with some of these 07+ trucks when using the parking light and brake wire at the bcm, where the remote start would get a false brake signal. Door locks are data, as well as the door triggers on most interfaces.
