Hello,
i've bought a car yesterday (dodge ram 1500 slt (year:2003) 4.7l) and this morning, my car does't want to start.
I've a system indicator at the bottom (right) which make noise(a little bit) and the light is red!
I've just a red light (flicker)on my instrument panel(fits at the security indicator). When i turn the key , the red light stay red and i want to start the car, nothing!! and nothing in the instrument panel too!
What kind of trouble am I?
The seller say me there is no alarm for this car
For information, I succeeded starting by connecting cables on another battery....but i think th battery is ok because it is new
thanks a lot

Well your battery is not ok. Even if it was new, its "flattening" does mean damage.
Whether that has a big effect may take time to determine - ie, the difference lasting 1 or 3 years instead or 3 or 6 years...

Did you buy the car from a dealer? If so, shouldn't they sort it out?

thanks for your answer!
My battery has been reloaded thinks to my alternator so my alternator works.
I unplugged my car's battery during 1 day to see if the battery is going to be KO!It was good!
So, i've plugged again my battery and after 7 hours only, my battery was KO!!!
i thinks It's a electrical problem!!
Don't you think?
Do you konw what is the best way to know what is the wires which involve the problem?
what fuses can i remove to do many tests?
thanks for your answering and sorry for my bad english
For your information, in the instrument panel, kilometers are always display even when the car is locked!
For your information, Only one lit cigar works (the two others does'nt work) and air conditionning doesn't work !!

Check for any added wiring.
But I'd assume that km display should not be lit etc - dash displays etc should be off.

The fault could rewiring, faulty IGN switch, even a faulty component.

I'd remove all fuses and add them back in one by one to see what is causing the drain, though I'd probably start with meter/gauge fuses etc.
Also check that the alternator heavy connection is not taking current.

A DMM (set to 10A) or a test light should be ok.

I think you mentioned you don't think the battery is bad, but another thing to consider is it could be low on water/acid. I have had brand new batteries that required maintenance arrive with no liquid in them! I don't know if you are in the states here, but our auto parts stores offer free battery testing. Remove the battery and take it to them and have them load test it. Be sure to charge it the night before, again charge it out of the vehicle. There are tutorials online for reconditioning a battery in this manner. Very simple and can save you hundreds of dollars.

After that is sorted, the first thing I would do, is take a look behind the radio and also look at the ignition wiring near the ignition switch for signs of pervious owners hack jobs. Make sure the wiring is untouched and undamaged. Make any repairs you see fit, and see if there is still an issue.

The next step is to pull all the fuses and replace them one by one until the dead battery happens again. Very time consuming and you may determine it would be faster and less hassle to have a mechanic do a proper load test for you.

Just my opinion. Hope it gets sorted out soon!
