Hi everyone,

This is my first post to this site ever and I'll seriously appreciate your help. I'm installing a Viper 1002 alarm system into a 1993 Miata, while also adding aftermarket power locks (dei- 2 wire actuators). Here's my issue, I think I fully understand the wiring for the internal relays, it seems pretty straight forward. But I want to take advantage of the progressive locking option. I realize I need to add a relay but I don't understand how to install it. The Viper diagram D shows lock actuators operation using alternating polarity (positive and negative switching to supply ground to circuit). I hope I'm understanding this correctly. The 1002 has a seperate output on the aux harness for the progressive locking option and you needs to add a relay to acheive this. How do you do this since I'd need to remove one of the leads at the 2 wire actuator to supply the input from the aux. harness? Do I need to add a diode to the 87a pin on the relay? Please help, losing my mind on this one.

Use this diagram, you need 1 relay and 2 1N4004 diodes (all Radio Shack):-

I might add that if this is the pop-up headlight model getting the motors in the door is a right bloody PITA.
1) Finding room between the inner skin and the glass mechanism.
2) In England (Climate similar to Washington State) the motors will last about 3 months water ingress = corrosion = seized motors.
Any 1 amp diode on 87, 87a or 30 will instantly orbit the earth probably taking part of you with it.

Thanks for your response. Your diagram looks like my problem is solved and it makes sense. Too your second remark, the lock actuators weren't that bad to install. They were a little tight, but most of my time was spent bending the linkage rods to not rub on anything. By this car only see's good weather for the most part so hopefully I won't have the same seizing motor issue you had. Thanks again!
