i installed a viper 5901 on my 2011 nissan frontier crew cab. everything seems to work just fine but my keypad was old and beat up so i ordered a python remote and programmed it. at first it wouldnt remote start the truck, it would just say error and the original remote worked just fine. so i deleted both keypads and reprogrammed the new python remote as remote number 1 and now it works but the original viper remote now gives me the same error when i try to remote start.

it seems to me like there is some setting that wont allow remote number 2 to remote start the truck but ive looked all over and cant find any setting on the alarm using a bitwriter or on either keypad that would disable the remote start.

i know some dei alarms need to have settings programmed for each remote so i made sure they were the same and still i get nothing.

i have engine checking turned off so its not a tach learn issue.

hoping someone with more experience with these can shed some light on my situation

something else i noticed and i dont know if it is a big deal or not. when i remote start the truck and turn the key and hit the brake to take over the truck, my truck gives me a series of beeps. it does this normally with the key too but sometimes it gives me a different number of beeps. sometimes 4, sometimes 3, sometimes 2, etc, i have heard no more than 4 beeps. i assume its because when i take over the truck sees the bypass (flashlogic FLCAN)return the ignition and security light wires back to their normal state.

my only concern is why do i get a different number of beeps? is it some sort of diagnostic system and its trying to tell me something isnt right? i dont have any check engine lights on but if the truck is trying to tell me something then i want to know what it is.

if i'm not mistaken and i'm assuming that the new python remote you ordered is also a pager, Viper alarms does not allow two pager remotes to be programmed to the same alarm.

both remotes work on all functions except the second remote wont activate remote start. paging functions work on both remotes, when i lock or unlock on one remote it reports on both remotes, same for when the alarm goes off. also as i said its not a viper/python issue because both remotes are fully functional depending on the order they get programmed to the alarm.
