Just installed an avital one button remote start on a 2001 Camry. Everything works quite well except the factory key fob will not lock or unlock the doors or trunk after the car has remote started. You have to shut down the engine, then the factory keyless entry will again operate. Has anyone had this issue, and know of any work arounds?

Thanks
Ryan

all toyotas are like that. you need to hook up the unlock from the avital to the car. then under remote start, hit avital button one more time and doors will unlock.

Its a factory option as stated above. To verify start the car with the key, then try to use the factory remote. It will not work.

Simple test you can do on all hondas and toyotas before begining installation, which usually results in an easy upsale. Blame the manufacturer not the installer! posted_image

Yes, that's the way Toyotas are built.

Option 1: Connect the unlock feature from the Avital (do you have a 4113?) to the Camry's unlock wire.

Option 2: Purchase 4-button remotes (like the remotes for the Avital 4103), program them to your existing unit (yes, they'll work), and connect your lock, unlock, and trunk outputs to the car. Connect horn too if you want.

Option 3: The Avital 4113 and 4103 have the same brain, wiring, and generally the same price. Do you have other cars that you plan to install a remote starter into? If that's the case, buy yourself a 4103, plug the 4103 brain into your Camry, connect lock, unlock, trunk (and maybe horn)...........   and then now you have a barely-used 4113 brain/remotes, and all the brand-new wiring that came with the 4103 you just bought; use that for another car.

FYI, all new GM products with the flipkey(Equinox, Camaro, Cruze, etc.) are like this now also....
