I have a 2010 jeep wrangler, recently installed a push to start ignition! works great heres the issue, have to disconnect the shift lock to have it function with no key in the ignition not a big issue for any other car, but on a wrangler i take my doors off and my car sits out, essentialy someone could climb in and switch my car into gear and have it roll away, not to good i have an idea of what to do just need help in the execution
I can make it electronic with some relays and a door lock actuator? maybe?
what should i hook it up to to lock the shifter when its armed and disengage it when disarmed?
Same as five wire door lock?maybe?

What to connect to on the alarm/car?
Or if a door lock actuator could handle the task of pulling the shift cable?

Update: i was thinking what if i could make it function just like the mechanical one.
So it would only function while the car is in the on position or started, and only when the brake is depressed it would allow you to move from park to drive.
I feel like this would be the safest way.
Right now its way to easy to steal the truck all they would need is a tow truck, and ive got mine lifted and customized with superchips tuner and a sound system, all of this stuff has security to protect them but without something to stop the theif from putting it in neutral they could just roll the whole truck on a tow truck and get passed all my security later!!!

im not familiar with jeep internals,what type of shiftlock is it currently using? an electrical solenoid of types

No it has a mechanical cable only on the wrangler, it would unlock only when the key was in the ignition

bummer, i was hoping it would have been an electro solenoid type device like on my brothers f350 i seem to spend so much time installing things in.
and i just drew a pretty diagram in paint lol 
well if it was an electronic shiftlock this would have been somwhat of an idea,
first relay on left will only work when ignition is on and brake pedal is pushed to complete the energizing of the coil to supply 12v to solenoid to release shiftlock and would have also allowed the transmission to stay locked in park when you had the vehicle parked and armed,
do'h thought it would have been a solenoid seeing as its a 2010 and the f350 ive been working on is only a 2006.
hopefully you can have a moment of inspiration from this and find a solution.

well that could work if i get a solenoid though wouldnt my setup need to perate the solenoid in 2 directions, one to lock it and one to unlock it?

you should be able to find a solenoid with a plunger that springs back out when power is removed from it so would only need to energize it to retract it.
doing funky things with relays isnt one of my strong points as i dont use them enough but you should be able to have a circuit that would operate in both directions, no doubt there are some other users on here that are wizards when it comes to doing things like that with relays and may be able to offer more ideas than my limited scope.

Thanks tony I've played with alot of relays just not for this application, I actually wasn't aware that I could get 1 that would spring back but that makes perfect sense and ur diagram would work in that case. I guess it's off to the auto parts store, thanks again.

OK i tried to get a solenoid to do this but didnt have any luck, best i could do is get the good old door lock actuator, i was hoping one of the pros could chime in here, i know i could do it like a 5 wire doorlock but i would like to have it function as close to stock as possible, mostly for safety purposes. someone please help me!!!!!
