new compustar

I just had a compustar unit installed in my non push to start 2012 Hyundai sonata and I have some questions about my installation.

1) when I try and use the timed start function, the remote tells me '"timed start fail"
2) when I turn off the car using the remote the head lights stay on indefinitely
3) if I hit unlock, it takes about a minute before just a single lock press will lock the doors. (a double lock press always works but sounds the horn once)
4) the installer insisted that I needed a module to control the locking and unlocking.

Does anyone have at feedback on these issues? Thanks in advance!

I can answer 4 if the 12 is the same as the 2011, NO, shouldn't need a lock module unless he's given you priority unlock, and then a simple relay would suffice.

I just went over the receipt and he says relays and diodes were needed for the locks. I may have been wrong about a module.

Lock modules are in fact a pair of relays.
As I said, priority unlock aside, relays would not have been required except possibly 2nd. ACC, although without checking I believe Compustar accommodates this.
Diodes are a given on any alarm-R/S install, frankly I buy 100+ quantities and that costs me about 2p (3c) each.
In all honestly you should pay your installer a visit, state your problems and ask what the relay was used for, not needed for locks, trunk release etc., maybe headlight flash? You didn't do the install and we don't have the full picture.

I'm thinking the timer function is just turned off. I think I can get it on. The door thing and the lights staying on are unacceptable though. I'll update this post with the results.

Just wanted to give an update on everything.

The dealer fixed the light situation.
The timer start was turned off on the brain and needed to be turned on via the options menu
The dealer still insists that he needed extra things to get the locks working and the car itself is the reason I can't freely lock and unlock repeatedly in a short span of time.

All in all I'm satisfied.

The locks should be straight negative trigger with a separate driver priority unlock wire (compustar units have a programmable 2nd unlock wire which would allow it to be connected without the use of a relay). This is however assuming that the 2012 is the same as the 2011.

On that note, you should NEVER repeatedly cycle the lock and unlock in a short span of time. On some cars, this WILL burn out the lock / unlock module in the car and you will be looking at a hefty repair bill. But, regardless, it should still be able to lock and unlock without waiting (a few seconds maybe).

As far as the 2nd accessory, the compustars come with a relay for the 2nd accessory.

I wonder if there's a Toyota style key sense wire on this vehicle which if not connected would cause the locks to behave this way.

I actually called compustar directly about the locking situation. The person I spoke to said its definitely something with the 2012 models that are weird and only a firmware update would fix it. No idea if/when that would be though. Somehow, double clicking the lock button to sound the horn seems to bypass the wait though. *shrugs*
