alarm remote start issue

I have been reading on these forums for a while and just decided to sign up and ask for some help. I've searched and searched and cant seem to find the answers I need.

I am doing a Crimestopper alarm SP-501 and a Flash Logic FLCAN bypass module in a 2005 Dodge Durango with Hemi no memory seats. Issue I am running into here is the car starts shuts off immediatly, doors locks and light dont work. I assume this is because those wires are not connected from the alarm module. When I read the directions on the bypass it looks like I dont need to connect those and just connect the bypass to the CANH and CANL wires and that should take care of it.

Can someone confirm this for me. Do I need to connect all of the leads for door lock, tach, lights, triggers, and horn or should the bypass module get all of that from the CANH and CANL wires?

did you download the latest firmware and flash the FLCAN? if not then the FLCAN is probably not programmed to work with your durango. if you did flash the bypass then what version did you load onto the bypass? without knowing this nobody can help you because we dont know which set of instructions you are following.

that durango might be too old for the FLCAN to support the convenience features and you might have to wire those manually to the car. if it does support it then you should just have to wire the lock wires and doorpin wire straight to the FLCAN and then the FLCAN will tell the car what to do through the CAN wires. the only way you wouldnt connect those wires is if you were using the bypass in D2D mode which lets you connect the bypass to the alarm through a data cable and then they will talk to each other and tell each other what to do without any other wiring. i dont think crimestopper supports D2D with flashlogic so you will have to wire it manually to the FLCAN for the locks and other features to work.

as for the remote start issue you will have to tell me exactly how everything is wired for me to know what is going on and you need to tell me a little more about what its doing, like does it start and run for a few seconds and then die? or does it just crank and die? does the instrument cluster light up just like it does when you start with the key? did you program the tach or are you using some form of voltage sensing?

I did not download the newest firmware for the FLCAN, I am looking into that right now. The crimestopper does support a Data cable connection and I have it connected that way. The remote start feature starts the vehicle and then it shuts off after a couple seconds. First what happens is the clock and radio come on then the AC starts. Afterwards it turns over then shuts back off a couple seconds later.

I assumed this is because I did not connect the tach wire, but I was led to believe in the instructions with the CANH and CANL wiring I did not need to tap those wires.

I recommend wiring the module instead of using data connections. Some manus only allow data communications obe way not allowing all functions to operate. It sounds like you could have one of a couple issues.
1) the module is not programmed. When you remote start it check for the security light in the dash( single red led in the cluster) if that goes solid for a few seconds then out it is programmed if it goes out then starts flashing then it is not programmed.
2) the remote start is not seeing tach.
3) not all wires are hooked up properly. If I remember correctly that vehicle has a Neg. Acc wire that needs hooked up.
Double check your wiring. Besure to have the latest firmware for you module. Wire it wire to wire not data. Besure to run a tach.

I am going to be flashing the firmware for the device shortly and I will connect the locks and etc. to the bypass. If I'm understanding you right I do not need to connect the leads on the alarm or bypass directly to the harness on the car itself for the door locks, lights, and etc.

Also I have heard people say on here programming the tach wire. What all does that entail exactly?

also if you are using D2D to give the alarm a tach signal you might need to program the alarm for a different tach setting. i know on the prestige alarms i install there is a special tach setting just for if you get the tach signal through a bypass module.
