HI,

I bought the Cliffnet software to program a Clifford G5 alarm.  I do not have a serial port so a friend

said there were usb to serial port cables avaialbe.  I bought one off the net but when I hooked everything

up it doesn't work.  XP searched for a USB-Serial Controller D driver but could not find it.  There were no drivers

on the Cliffnet CD and a net search didn't pan out.  Any help would be qappreciated getting thos thing to work.  thanks Mike

Only ever seen it done once via a card into a laptop. As a pro I keep an old Dell specifically for this purpose but it's still not guaranteed to work every time.
The other problem is NEVER use with G5, there are compatibility problems.
EVERY function bar changing the crank time for R/Scan be easily done manually via the valet switch.
Even if you get it working, NEVER learn tach except manually, you've been warned.
When DEI took over Clifford, they axed the Wiz software man, they haven't got it right since and they are concentrating on the Bitwriter. IMO G5 is a more stable product than the Viper based Cliffords.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

thanks, gave it a shot since the whole programming package was less than $20.
