I installed a Viper 5501 (remote start with keyless) on a 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue a few months ago.
Suddenly this week, the power unlock stopped working on the car. I don't believe it's related to the Viper system but was looking to see if anyone had any ideas. I would normally go and troubleshoot but this client is about 100 miles away, so anything I could figure out without going down there would be great.
The factory power lock system will lock the doors when the car is put in drive and unlock them when it's put into Park. Of course you can use the door buttons as well (when all is working).
The lock function works fine when put in drive but won't unlock in Park. Also, won't unlock with the Viper remote or the buttons on the doors. My client can hear the relay click under the dash when he presses the buttons but no unlock. Fuses were checked and none are blown.
Any ideas? Any suggestions to try or check for? Thanks in advance.

Get your client to try all lock/unlock methods, key in door* internal switch if present.
*Key in door will only work if there's a key hole both sides.
If using the original factory methods fails, then you can't blame the alarm.
I'm guessing failed microswitch in lock actuator.

Thank you howie.
I didn't think it was the remote starter since he can't unlock the doors with the factory options either.
He is able to open the door fine with the key. That's how he has been using it since the keyless function stopped. All other methods aren't working whether it's with the Viper remote or the factory buttons.
I will let him know. I was looking for a wiring diagram for the locks to try and help him out. Thanks again!!

That's OK, very common on Euro GM, BMW and Horrid Peugeots, the microswitch inside the "master" actuator fails and the locks "unlock".
Simple rule if it also fails when NOT using the R/S or Alarm or aftermarket Keyless. Then it's a car problem not yours.
Spent an hour once on a VW Polo (smaller Golf) discovered water ingress into the vacuum locking module.
Probably the driver's door actuator.

I am afraid you have been away from the states too long Howie! Dont ya remember cars once worked on by an electronics installer never have any issue that are't related to the installers faulty wiring? Brake squeal? that has to be a bad alarm install!
Just kidding though it does seem that way with some customers! ------------- To master and control electricity is perfection. *evil laugh*

Ha Ha same here RJ, "BLAME THE LAST ONE ON THE CAR".
It's just that I've seen this problem so often, I've got used to diplomatically telling them to plod off to their dealerships.

Thanks for the chuckle guys. HaHa. I needed that.
I wonder if he will call me when he runs out of gas and blames the remote starter for the engine not running!

Further reply to racerjames....There's no real difference between here, there and Oz and N. Zealand, my daughter in NZ sees movies a week or 2 before the UK.
Except the price of gasoline, = $9.50 per gallon.
Oh and by the way, we get big TV shows a day after you and I have 24 dedicated Olympics channels, BMW Minis are everywhere, BMW dealerships should be called Stealerships and Fiats and French cars are still rubbish. And car dealers are nasty people and always blame us.
I've got 800+ TV channels and I watch about 10!
And yes I have a flat screen HDTV, satellite, PC, laptop and next month either an iPad or a Nexus slate.
And I will still moan about trade in a recession ------------- Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
