Vehicle - 2008 Ford Fusion
Hello,
Just installed a DEI/AutoCommand 25622 stand alone OEM remote start. The activation input requires a single or double negative pulse to activate the start sequence. The Ford factory door locks apparently are set for a double pulse, which means everytime we lock the doors the car starts; real pain.
Is there anything I can do to resolve this issue? The remote starter is mostly useless at this point.

Don't know your unit, but i know the DEI Avital series can be set for 1, 2 or 3 pulses. That said, i have never seen a Ford needing 2 pulses to lock the doors. Are you sure there isn't some other issue?

My unit can only be programmed for one or two pulses, pretty basic DEI unit. I called DEI and the tech. said some newer cars are coming with a double pulse from the factory. I can confirm this this because the remote starter starts when I touch the activation wire to ground twice, or hit the lock button once in the car. So I can eliminate there being an issue except this double pulse dilemma.
I also considered using a negative pulse from the trunk pop since I have that button on my factory remote, but I can't seem to get that to work for some reason. I am truly open to suggestions on this.

Did you use a relay and connect to a door lock motor?

Relay wasn't needed, just used door lock motor negative for input.

I would check to see if the positive motor wire only pulses once. If so hook a relay to that wire and be done.

On Euro Fords the trunk pop won't work if the vehicle is locked.

Hmm, a Fusion has rest at ground lock motors. The proper way is to add a relay and use the positive pulse to trigger it off the gray/brown lock motor leg wire....

you can use a PAC TR7 to turn multiple pulses into a single pulse. set it for 4 pulse activation so that it will need 2 presses of the lock button to send one pulse to the remote starter.
