Hi everyone. I have a 1990 honda accord, and the key ring wont turn on my driver side. I have to resort to opening my car through the passenger side which is a pain.
I bought the viper 211HV keyless entry system, and I'm having my BF install it for me....however we don't know anything about cars really.
He's done wiring for computers as he is a technician at office depot, but nothing like this before.

I found this information which should help a lot
https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/alarmdetail/1032.html

However, I'm not sure how to install the system.
Do I need tools?
Where is the wiring done?

If someone is kind enough to give me a run down of how to install this thing, I would really appreciate it!
I don't really have the money to pay someone to install this in my car.

Thank you!

There is a lot to know and learn to install a keyless entry system.

First, does the car currently have factory power door locks?  If yes, continue...

You will need basic automotive hand tools, like wrenches and a socket set, screwdrivers etc.
For the electrical aspect, you will need electric tape, soldering gun / iron, solder, wire
cutters, exacto knife, tie wraps, etc.  Also needed is a Digital Multi Meter to locate and
verify the vehicle wires.

Here is a link to the Viper install guide if you don't have one :

Here is a link to Ready Remote for another wiring guide :
https://www.readyremote.com/main.asp?make=Honda&model=Accord

Here is a list of the basic wires you will need to connect :

H1/1 RED (+) 12V CONSTANT POWER INPUT                 White (50A)+   @ ignition harness
H1/2 BLUE (-) 200 mA SECOND UNLOCK OUTPUT       N.U.
H1/3 BLACK/ WHITE-1 INPUT DOMELIGHT SUPER RELAY #87            N.U.
H1/4 BLACK/ WHITE OUTPUT DOMELIGHT SUPER RELAY #30           N.U.
H1/5 GREEN/ BLACK LOCK #30 COMMON OUTPUT      BLACK/ white (-)  lower drivers kick
H1/6 WHITE/ BLACK LOCK #87 NORMALLY CLOSED    N.U.
H1/7 VIOLET/BLACK LOCK #87 NORMALLY OPEN (INPUT)      Chassis Ground
H1/8 BLUE/BLACK UNLOCK #30 COMMON (OUTPUT)   BLACK/ red (-)  lower drivers kick
H1/9 VIOLET UNLOCK #87 NORMALLY OPEN (INPUT)   Chassis Ground
H1/10 WHITE (+/-) PARKING LIGHT FLASH OUTPUT      RED / black (+)   fuse box in dr. kick ***Set to +
H1/11 BLACK (-) CHASSIS GROUND INPUT       Chassis Ground
H1/12 BROWN (-) HORN HONK OUTPUT             lt. GREEN/ blue (-)  column or horn relay   **
H1/13 LT. GREEN/ BLACK FACTORY ALARM DISARM     N.U.
H1/14 WHITE/ BLUE (-) 200 mA CHANNEL 3 VALIDITY OUTPUT   N.U.
H1/15 YELLOW (+) SWITCHED IGNITION INPUT (ACCESSORY)           BLACK / YELLOW (+)  @ IGNITION SWITCH HARNESS
H1/16 ORANGE (-) 500 mA GROUND-WHEN-ARMED OUTPUT   N.U.
H1/17 BROWN / BLACK UNLOCK #87A NORMALLY CLOSED      N.U.
H1/18 RED / WHITE (-) OUTPUT OF CHANNEL 2                N.U.

For the Lock & Unlock wires :
Locate the large harness in the lower area below the carpet in the drivers kick panel. Near the
foot rest you will notice a piece of blue tape attached to the harness itself. Reach around to the
underside of the blue tape to locate a 2 pin gray plug with the lock and unlock wires attached to
the plug.

You will need to remove the lower steering column cover to find the +12V power, Ignition and Horn
wires.  The rest are located in the drivers kick panel ( including the chassis ground ).

Locate the Viper brain in a convenient location.  Group the wires into two bundles going to the 2
connection points ( DKP and steering column ).  Cut the wires to length and securely solder each
connection.  Then insulate with quality electric tape ( Scotch Super 33+ ).

**  The Horn could be BLUE/RED OR GRAY (-) @ STEERING COLUMN HARNESS.  You might need a relay for this
circuit as it is high current.  The Horn is optional and not absolutely necessary.

Soldering is fun!
