infiniti m35 2008

Hello, I am installing a Viper 5704 with an fortin evo-can into a 2008 Infiniti M35 (push to start) and am running into some issues. I wired the viper and the fortin using w2w method outlined in the fortin install guide for my vehicle.

I can lock/unlock the car using the viper remote just fine. But when I unlock the car using the OEM fob remote, the viper alarm will trigger. Any ideas? Also selective driver door unlock using the viper remote isn't working. It will unlock ALL doors.

When remote starting, the parking light flashes and I can hear the relays inside the viper brain switch back and forth but the car wont start up.

Viper alarms do not have a wired disarm input so there is no way to disarm the alarm with the factory fob. Everything must be done with the aftermarket fob. As for priority unlock, did you program the bypass for priority unlock? Finally, did you program the bypass after installation? And what firmware do you have on it?

During remote start attempt, count the Parking Light flashes.  It is giving an error code for the failed remote start.

7 blinks = Viper still in Manual Transmission Mode

8 blinks = Neutral Safety error

There are others but those are the most common.

So I got the arm and disarming working.

I'm still having trouble with the remote start. It's no longer giving the blinking error messages. Now, when I press the remote start button, the seat and steering wheel will move as if I were in the car. And the car LCD/navi system would turn on for a second and then off. But the car would not start.

Did the EVO-CAN program properly, giving all the correct responses?

Did you program the Tach successfully on the Viper?  Think you could also program Viper to Engine Checking = OFF and set a Fixed crank time of 1.0 seconds.

Assuming the car starts OK normally and during a remote start attempt the starter motor does nothing .  I think I would double check the wiring for the under hood Starter relay and test it with a DMM.

The evo-can is giving all the correct response.

It seem that the neutral safety wire isn't giving out the 12v to click the relay. If I bypass the starter relay, everything starts up fine.

Now the weird thing is, when I disconnect the car ground terminal from the battery and I probe the neutral safety wire to the battery ground, I see 12v. But when the ground terminal is connect to the batt, 0v from the neutral safety switch.   I double check all my wiring, everything seems fine.

All other alarm function works, just no remote start.

Not positive, but that Grey/Red Neutral Safety wire might only go to +12V when the vehicles' Ignition is ON and the transmission is in Park or Neutral.  Be careful and only test it with a DMM, that warning from Fortin looks serious.

Anyway, at least you know the problem is with the under hood Starter relay circuit.

You are right. If I physically push the ignition to "ON" and then remote start, it starts up. I wonder why the remote starter isn't pushing ignition. I have a diode (1N4004) with the band facing the remote starter on the ignition wire, but I don't think that should affect it, should it?

Absolutely.

If I understand you correctly, you placed a 1N4004 diode with the band facing the Viper in the wire
connection from the H3/1 Pink Ignition output wire to the M35's Brown Ignition wire ( 18 Pin plug on
Power Module ).  This connection is shown in the EVO-CAN's install guide on Page 3 ( with no diode ).

Two points :
1.  The EVO-CAN install guide is very detailed and does not specifically indicate a diode is needed
    for that connection. 
2.  A blocking diode ( 1N400x ) installed with the band towards the Viper side of the circuit will block
    the 5704's +12V output and the M35's Power Module will never see the "ignition" come on during a
    remote start attempt.  Check out this diode diagram :  https://www.the12volt.com/diodes/diodes.asp

As you probably found out during DMM testing of that Starter Relay circuit, the M35's Gray/Red Neutral
Safety (+) output is only present when the cars ignition is on and the diode you added to the circuit
is blocking the Vipers ignition output from doing that.  Remove the 1N4004 diode and everything should
work.  There is no need to protect the Viper's H3/1 Pink ignition output circuit from the M35 ( it is a
N.O. relay ) and if you are concerned that the Vipers 20 Amp H3/1 Pink Ignition output might damage the
M35's Power Module, you could place a low amp fuse in that connection.
