09 civic r/s crank but no start

Hey guys

Having an issue with a 2009 civic sedan remote start I did last year.
Compustar cm6200 2 way. I data link bypass.

Everything was working fine till recently and now when you try to remote start the car it cranks but does not start.
Then will start no problem with the key.


Verified all my connections and retraced all my wires and still can't get it to start successfully.

Ive already tried to adjust tach sensing, crank time and engine sensing. Reset the bypass. Still nothing.


Anyone had this happen to them? Or any suggestions on things to try.

Do you see the security light flashing when you try to remote start?

Try inserting the key into the ignition switch without turning it. Then try remote starting the vehicle. If it works, it is most likely the bypass. Either it lost programming or the GWR wire (if used) may have come loose from the bypass unit.

Try reprogramming the bypass unit to the car. I know you said you reset it but not sure if that meant programming it again.

I've tried to remote start with key in ignition, or near ignition and nothing.

I did the factory reset on the bypass and went thru the programming again and still nothing.

I'm gonna try to update the firmware on the bypass and see if that helps.

I'm using the d2d method between the idatalink and the Compustar.

Maybe ill try strait w2w and see if that solves any problems.

Even though it sounds like a bypass issue, I would also double check the connections to the ignition wire. It's the blue wire in the ignition harness and the green wire on the Compustar.

On the bypass, is the light flashing when you attempt remote start?
For the blade, the blue light would flash. For the modules, the green light would flash to indicate it's getting the GWR signal. As you already mentioned, w2w may correct that.

With it not starting with the key in the ignition, I don't think it is a bypass issue. It sounds more to me like a tach issue. Did you verify the unit is programmed for tach sensing, and then did you relearn the tach signal?

I did try changing the enginh sensing option to tach,altenator, no tach sensing and 1.5 second crank.

Each time I've tried to relearn the tach by starting the vehicle with the key, pressing down the brake pedal and holding the remote start button.

When I do this, the remote beeps back error 5. Which means vehicle running.

Am I missing something?

Also noticed today that the vehicle will let me remote start with the door open.

Shouldn't it not let that happen ?

door open is fine, it shouldn't allow you to start with the hood open though. Does the bypass give you tach signal or did you have to wire it to the vehicle?

It may be one of two things, either your remote start module, or bypass. It seems you are not getting tach signal do to either one of these. Remove the bypass re flash it again, verify all connections AND YOUR GROUND! then move on the the module and programing of it, is the tach running off the i data? and is there a tachless option on your remote start module? worst come to worst you can rip out the I data and replace it with a dball or fortin.
