starter not cranking on remote start

Hi, first post here.

I have a 07 scion tc manual transmission.
I bought the VIPER 4103XV and installed it. I hooked up everything. the lock, unlock work and the unit also sends signal to remote start. the problem is, my starter does not crank. it's not the clutch problem bc I am holding it down and still not working.

I have the 12v starter wire from the viper unit spliced into the starter wire on the ignition. harness. the viper only came with one starter wire, (I've seen other vipers with 2 starter wires). the unit has an antigrind wire that I did not hook up. is there something I missed with the starter wire? Everything works except my starter cranking, I feel like I have to so something else with the starter wire instead of having it directly spliced into the starter wire in the ignition harness.

First I will say that the 4103 is not made for manual transmissions especially since the TC doesn't have a neutral safety switch!!

Did you power just the one starter wire on the TC? There are 2 starter wires on that car you need to connect to.

Starter 1 BLACK (+) IGNITION HARNESS
Starter 2 GREEN (+) IGNITION HARNESS

Even though the Viper unit has only one main violet starter wire, you can wire a relay that will connect the other starter wire so they both crank at the same time.

By-pass required as well???
Connect up the second starter via a relay (doNOTsplice into the first starter output), use second starter output, violet (purple) 200 milliamp NEG (-) output from the satellite plug to trigger the relay.
Also ref the by-pass, once you've done that, leave the key in the ignition, that will tell us if there's a factory immobiliser and you need to by-pass it.

Exactly. Even though you have already done most of it, I HIGHLY suggest removing it and getting a proper system. No matter how careful you may think you are, or how much you never leave the car in gear, one mishap (and it WILL eventually happen) can lead to a damaged car, damaged property, or worse someone's death when your car decides to start driving itself. Yes it will drive itself if remote started in gear. We tested it one time on a friends jeep and it completely drove away... with the ebrake on.

Hate to be a party pooper but the OP should buy / install / use a remote start system that is Manual Transmission safe. Then worry about the Starter2 wire and the bypass module. ( Not a Viper 4103 user but all the info I can find on it concurs with ShortCircuits' post. It's for Auto Trans only. )

And I even think connecting to the ebrake is a joke, can't remember how many times I've driven off with it engaged, only the slight sluggishness and a bloody great warning light to tell me off.
Parked downhill in a forward gear it WILL move.
Saying you will never leave it in gear is like the fools who want passive arm and lock and tell me they will NEVER leave the key in the car.
Actually I don't mind that one you should only imagine what I charge for a night time call-out and window breaking session, I take the money before I break the window.

thank you so so soooooo much. I've asked on other scion tc forums and no body knew what I was talking about. everything works great now. thanks again

thank you for concerns. I am just planning to use it in the winter and will probably disable it. I tested it with ebrake on and yea it does to forward..... I am 50/50 on removing it bc of the time and money I've already put into it. also, I didn't see the other posts until after I already spliced the purple wire into both starter wires. is there something bad that could happen by not using the satellite harness?

Simple question...why does the vehicle manufacturer use 2 starter leads and keep them separate?
You are heading for lots of trouble and $$$$.
Use a relay from the satellite harness.

There is a reason they are separated. A lot of the Toyotas/Lexus/Scion vehicles use that second starter wire for a cold-start injector. By combining it with the other one, you may cause harm down the road with the fuel system or other components. Not to mention Check Engine lights and other issues that can arise with the car's computer.

It's not hard to wire a relay to control that 2nd starter wire. A relay that cost a few dollars will never compare to having to fix any major computer or mechanical issue with your car later on.

The 1N4004 diode shown on the NEG starter output to 85 on the relay is mandatory, it will save frying the R/S brain.
87a isn't used.
Standard Bosch/Tycho "cube" relay available anywhere or Radio Shack inc. the diode.
