Hi. I have been racking my brain for several days on how to wire in the power locks to my Viper 771XV but am still stuck. The manual shows a 3 wire configuration which is green, red and blue with the red not wired.
On the 'Ready Remote' site the wiring shows the colors for 'power lock', 'power unlock','lock motor' and 'unlock motor' and I have tried all combinations but nothing works. One way I wired it locks all doors but the drivers door and won't unlock any and the other way doesn't do anything.
Which method am I supposed to use for this wiring? I have a prewired relay assembly from Viper that has GREEN/ black, blue/black, PURPLE / black with fuse but that's what I am using.
Its totally confusing. I can add more if anyone needs.

Have you tried it this way?

     Viper 771XV        In line diode      2003 Forester
GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK OUTPUT  1N4004 band towards viper     RED / white (-)   @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 12
BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK OUTPUT      1N4004 band towards viper   yellow/red (all doors) (-)   @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 11 ( might be Pin 14 )

The BIU (Body Integrated Unit) is under the driver dash, to the left of the steering column.

I didn't think I had to use diodes but yes I tried that way and that was the way it was wired when it locks all doors but the drivers door and won't unlock any at all. The problem is that the wiring guide shows this: yellow/red (all doors); ORANGE / black (driver door)which is throwing me off. Do I need to wire RED / white and yellow/red and ORANGE / black? How do I choose which combination?
Thanks for your prior post.

Do you have an actual switch for the door locks or do you lock / unlock the driver's door lock and then the others lock / unlock with it?

Otherwise, you need to connect 1 lock wire and 2 unlock wires (diode isolate each, band towards viper module)
Power Lock      RED / white      -      BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 12
Power Unlock      yellow/red (all doors); ORANGE / black (driver door)      -      BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pins 11 and 14

If all you want is for the Viper to lock the doors and unlock all the doors with one press on the appropriate switch, wire it as above.  There is no need for the ORANGE / Black wire.  The diodes are there because of the Vipers push / pull output.

GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK OUTPUT  ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> RED / white (-)        @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 12
BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK OUTPUT      ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> yellow/red (-)       @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 11 ( might be Pin 14 )

How are you locating / testing the wires?  The sure way is to use a Digital Multi Meter.  Set it to 20V DC, connect the Red lead to +12V constant and connect the Black lead to the suspect wire.  With the corresponding car button press, the DMM should show +12V.

I use the remote to open drivers with 1st press and all doors on 2nd remote press.
So RED / white to Viper green and both yellow/red plus ORANGE / black together from pin 11 and 14 to Viper blue? Hook 11 and 14 together?
Sorry if I am making this hard. My brains full of wires.

Viper green to the RED / white (lock)
Viper blue split with 2 1n4001 or 1n4004 diodes (band towards viper); one going to yellow/red, and the other going to ORANGE / black.

I guess my confusion was not knowing which wires to NOT use. To save myself some headaches I guess I could use the 1 press to open all doors approach. I have been checking the power to the switches by the conventional way of black to ground and probing with the positive. Never realized I should be checking the other way.

Thanks for the input Kenny. I will try that tomorrow and hopefully that will take care of it.

Any ideas of where the violet with the fuse goes? I read somewhere that it is grounded and not +12v.

Ok.  Think I might have figured it out.  You are using the DEI451M module with your Viper 771XV.  That is where
the Purple wire with the fuse is coming from. If that assumption is correct then...

First, for your car, the 2003 Subaru Forester, you don't need that 451M module, so remove it.  You can do the door
locks directly from the Viper 771XV.

There are two ways to accomplish this.  The first way will lock all the doors with one Viper Lock buttom press and
unlock all the doors with one Viper Unlock button press.  This was shown before as follows :

Viper 771XV 3 Pin door Lock Harness    Diode for Flip/Flop output           Forester BIU
GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK OUTPUT  ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> RED / white (-)        @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 12
BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK OUTPUT     ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> yellow/red (-)       @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 11 ( might be Pin 14 )

The second way to make the install is similar but allows use of the Vipers' Priority Unlock feature.  That means
that the Vipers' FOB's will act the same as the Factory FOB's.  (i.e. One press on the Unlock button will unlock
just the Drivers door, the second press on the Unlock button ( within 3 seconds ) will open the rest of the doors.)
Here is how to wire that :

Viper 771XV 3 Pin door Lock Harness Diode for Flip/Flop output            Forester BIU
GREEN (-) LOCK (+) UNLOCK OUTPUT  ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> RED / white (-)           @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 12
BLUE (+) LOCK (-) UNLOCK OUTPUT     ---> 1N4004 band towards viper ---> ORANGE / Black (-)     @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 14 ( might be Pin 11 )

Viper 771XV 6 Pin Secondary Harness
H2/6 Lt Blue (-) Second Unlock    ---> no diode needed ---> yellow/red (-)       @ BIU, gray 20 pin plug, pin 11 ( might be Pin 14 )

As before, use the DMM to locate, test and verify the lock wires at the BIU before making your connections.

If you wire it for non-priority locking, you will need to split the blue (+) lock (-) to the yellow/red AND the ORANGE / black (using 2 1n4001 / 1n4004 diodes) in order to unlock all doors.

Ok I wired it this way and all doors work apart from the drivers which won't lock or unlock. Any other ideas?
Thanks.

Strange.  The drivers door won't lock or unlock with Viper inputs at the BCM. With the Lock function, all doors should lock and with the second Unlock signal, all doors should
unlock.   Does the drivers door work properly with the Factory FOB's?  Does the drivers door work OK with the door buttons ( both Drivers side and Passengers side )?

Wondering if something happened to the BIU?  While you had the 451M module connected, did you have that fused Purple wire going to +12V?  With Type B locks, it should
have been connected to chassis ground.

If everything works OK with the Factory FOB's and switches, you could try catching the Lock and Unlock wires in the Drivers Kick Panel ( although I believe they are logically
the same ).  If that worked you wouldn't have Priority Unlock via the Viper but at least it would lock and unlock the drivers door.  Other than that, you might try the big reset
by disconnecting the battery for 20 minutes.  You would lose your radio presets but might get everything working again.

Well damn it I think at one point I blew a fuse up front for the clock with the purple attached to 12+ and replaced the fuse and I guess didn't think anymore of it. The fuse blew when I pressed lock on the remote so I bet you are right, that's what happened. The door won't lock on the drivers by pressing any buttons but everything else does. I will have to lock manually until I can get a BIU. I could kick myself.
Thanks man. I will try to get a new unit and post back.
