I am in the middle of installing an Avital alarm / remote start in my Civic and I am having a problem with the factory arm. I have the orange wire on the back of the fuse panel that is right next to the factory disarm. The wire pulses 12 volts when I key the drives door lock but it will not arm the system when I ground it. The disarm will disarm when it is grounded but the arm will not function the same so I am at a loss.

I was testing the relays to be sure I had it rite and not backwards (arm for disarm) and when activated the relay switches correctly but the factory alarm was not arming so I eliminated the relay, straight grounded the wire and it still does not work.

Any ideas?

Have you tried it with the door closed? On most Honda's (and quite a few others), the alarm will not arm if the door or hood are open. I hate to admit it, but that was one of our disarm solutions that we offered with Honda's. If the customer did not want to pay for the extra disarm charges (mainly when you had to go into the door), we offered to just ground the hood pin wire. no lights in the dash and the system could not arm. I tried to avoid it wherever possible, but we kept it as an cost effective option for those who didn't want the factory alarm.

I just double checked with the door and hood closed it still won't arm if I ground the wire, but it will arm if I lock the door with the key, as well  the wire will pulse when I do it? I am confused...... I need the factory arm and I need to find the door pin wire and I am done but I can not get the factory arm figured out, any other ideas?

How do you know it isnt working? Is the theft light on the dash no activating? Because the factory arm wire doesn't lock the doors in that vehicle. You have to use the green wire pin 28 to lock the doors

The theft light is not activating in the dash, I am using the same relays to drive both the lock / arm and unlock / disarm seperated with a diode.

Got it... I don't know what the deal was but originally it did not work so I pulled it from the relay and tried it but I just put it back to the rela,y with the lock, and it works when they both get siginal so I am just looking for the door pin wire and I am finished. I have dug for it in the front of the panel for the door wire and have not found it so I will have to dig into the kick panle unles I hear another easier option in the next few min.

Thanks for the help.

Pink wire (-) on the blue 20-pin connector clipped to the bottom of the fuse box. It will detect all door but has the dome light delay. When you are the alarm you will get a second chirp. To turn that second chirp off, you have to go into the programmable features of you Alarm and turn off "Door trigger error chirp" Then you will be good to go.

Make sure trunk is closed also. If the trunk isnt closed it will never arm.

Does your instrument panel have a door open icon?
That's where you can pick up all door trigger with no delay problems.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

I have the alarm finished and working great except that the factory remote will not disarm the Avital alarm and I don't think I can change that. I did have some trouble tracing down wires but it was because one of the leads on my DMM was messed up.

Thanks for the help

As far as I know the Avital alarms do not have a disarm input and can only be disarmed from their own remote.
