Hello Folks
I have a question. I have installed a code-alarm 1552 in our 1997 Cargo Van (for our business) This Alarm has the valet switch and led lights incorporated into the antenna. Although this is a convience, i think that this is a bad idea. Is there a way to change or disable the valet switch in the antenna and mount an old type pust button hidden in or under the dash and use a regular red led in a visible location. We need the Antenna to increase the range of the 2 way pager feature. Having the blue Led and valet switch in plain sight is actually a theifs dream cometrue, now the know where the valet switch is to bypass the alarm. all a fast theif has to do is open the car push the button and turn on the ignition. Not a good idea. Pleae help. Thanks in advance for all you people out there and the great help you all provide ------------- Preferred Lock And Key

I'm not familiar with code alarm stuff but is the connection at the brain 1 plug or individual plugs for LED, Antenna and valet switch? If it is all one plug you can open up the antenna and find the traces on the board that go to the valet button, match them up to the cable and cut them at the brain and wire up a push button.

Can you change the number of pushes to make the valet button work on say 2 0r 3 to activate, also won't they need your actual key?

The English market version has separate LED and valet buttons.

I suppose it's true that knowing where the valet switch is would help a thief somewhat, but they still have to turn the car's ignition on.
By the time they break the ignition lock so they can turn it without a key, the alarm will have been sounding off for a long time.
I would just do as Howie suggests. Go to techservices.codesystems.com, create a (free) account, and look up the installation manual. In the programming section, change the amount of override pulses to something you like.
However, you should still be able to do what you want to do. At the alarm brain, I'm guessing (from my experience with Prestige and Pursuit units), that you'll find a 2-pin blue connector, but with only one (gray) wire in it.
Cut that gray wire in half. Tape off the side that goes to the antenna. Connect a momentary switch to the "alarm brain" side of the gray wire you just cut. Connect the other terminal on your switch to chassis ground.
