I'm attempting to program a Viper 4704, after changing an option and exiting programming I get one short then one long chirp and the change(s) are not saved. I've searched the net and have not found what the first short chirp means.

btw the door sense is connected and works.

This sounds like what may be happening to you. Possibly where you bought it from locked it.

The learn routine may be locked if previously programmed using the Bitwriter®.
If the horn generates one long honk when attempting to program the unit, the learn routine is locked and must be unlocked using the Bitwriter®
before proceeding.
