my car alarm has started having issues.it started screaming for no obvious reason no one was near it ,no severe wind or sudden drop in temperature,i disarmed it and got 3 chirps which is normal if the car had been tampered with, and rearmed the alarm and it chirped twice as it should do but 5seconds later it chirped 4 times,so it was claiming that zone 4 still had a input whether the doors or something else i am not 100%sure but i checked the boot and the doors and windows all were closed properly,so i need to know where the door sensor is likely to located and what it looks like so i can fix the issue or shield it so it stops ,can anyone help pls the the is a right hand drive golf gti 2000reg

Blue/grey from body control unit* under dash right hand side of steering column. Goes to courtesy lights.
*Either that unit has gone faulty in 12 years or one of the rear side courtesy lights might not be switched off.
Also not uncommon failure of the tailgate microswitch which switches on the hatch area light.
Mk. IV generally had awful processor modules.

Are the indicators flashing at the same time?

yes the indicators are also flashing ,i have found the issue, the sensor in the drivers door had shorted out due to a failure in a door seal,so hoping once this dries out and the door seal has been replaced, all will be good.thank you for your help
