I am about to install an aftermarket alarm (Viper 350 Plus) in my 08 Pontiac G6 4cyl. I have a question before I dive in. I am handy with electrical components and have installed a couple of alarms in cars before, but:

1. What does this mean and should it be of any concern to me?

"THIS VEHICLE USES A SINGLE WIRE DOORLOCKING SYSTEM THAT REQUIRES EXTRA PARTS. A NEGATIVE THRU A 1500 OHM RESISTOR WILL UNLOCK. A NEGATIVE TO THE WIRE WILL LOCK. SEE DIAGRAM."

2. How will the aftermarket and factory alarm (unlock/lock) work together? Ex: When I crank the car up, put the car in 'drive', how can both factory and aftermarket alarms lock the doors at the same time? Sounds to me that I need to disable the factory unlock/lock. Correct?

I just wanted to get someones opinion before I dive in. I don't want to spend all day working on something I will need extra parts for.

Thanks in advance!

1)AKA"one wire multiplex".
Go to the relay section, locks and you will find it and how to wire it up.
2) Simple. Program OUT "Autolock" on the 350.
Is there something wrong with the factory alarm?

Thanks, my remote is going bad (unlock doesn't want to 'unlock'. Lock still works OK most of the times). Anyhow, changed the battery ...etc. so I believe probably going to need a remote that can only be programmed by a dealer. I decided price wise to just buy a whole new system ($50) instead of buying one remote and programming it at the dealer.

Did some more research but still am confused on which diagram I need for my car. Which one on this page do you think my car will need?
