I am installing a Viper 2-way car alarm system with battery backup. But I also would like to install a second simple alarm system with siren only. If the main alarm system gets disabled or yanked out, I want the second backup system to provide siren. Also when the main alarm system is armed, the second system would be armed also. Can this be done?

can this be done? not easily. you would need to solder wires directly onto the keypad of the secondary alarm and bury it in your dash and use relays driven by the arm and disarm output of the main alarm to operate the secondary keypad.

plus you would need to find a way to power the secondary keypad.

alarms dont have a hardwired disarm input or else why have an alarm if you can just tap a wire to disarm.

i guess you could also wire a set of relays to simulate the disarm procedure through the valet switch of the secondary alarm

Just place a second siren INSIDE the vehicle.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Thanks for such a quick reply. I guess if I hide the main module & battery backup deep inside the dash and add a second siren that would do it. If there was a way to arm the second alarm through hard wire that would be cool.

This is just not true. An upgrade alarm does have hardwired arm and disarm wires. There is no reason you couldn't use an upgrade style alarm like the PRO9233N as the second alarm and allow the motor pulses to arm and disarm. You could stick it in the trunk or under a seat and have it totally independant of the main alarm. Instead of using a second siren(which could get ripped out if a thief thinks it's the primary siren) and connect the horn honk instead. You could even use the GWA wire on the primary alarm to trigger the upgrade alarm, so that if the primary gets disconnected it would trigger the upgrade.

Simple and cheap, upgrade alarms don't cost much since there are no RF remotes...

Mike, many thanks for that information. My neighborhood has had several car burglaries recently. They stole this one guys new battery, alternator, and other parts they could take out quickly. They took the stereo too, of course. MY car is a 2007 Corolla. Is has engine immobilizer from the factory. And I am putting in tilt sensor with the viper system. You could steal a corolla alternator in 2 minutes flat. Its just right there. I am a deep sleeper. I will sleep through the page from 2-way pager. I don't want anyone taking their sweet time stealing parts from my car. I want lots of sound. I want the neighbors wake up before me.
