I am looking for help with a remote start system, specifically the transponder bypass. My car is a 2005 VW Jetta, 2.0 gas, with power windows. The remote start unit is an old stock UltraStart 2000 Series Pro, and includes an alarm (which wont be used). The current transponder bypass is a DE 556U. The wiring for the car appears to be 2004 spec., according to research. The car uses a factory switchblade key, and I have removed the small PCB in the key to place into the bypass unit.

I am stuck with the bypass not operating as it should. I have tried using the bypass wiring connections in all of it's configurations with no success. I have sought assistance from DE with no result. I have used 3 known and tested PCBs from different keys. I have tried the timed as well as the full-time negative triggers to signal the bypass. I have stripped the key loop and placed it a myriad of locations on, around, and near the factory key loop.

My questions are:

Will this transponder do the job? Is there a better one?

Shall I make a home-made transponder, perhaps using a design like Lessco Electronics relay system?

Is using the key loop the ideal way to install? There is a 3-wire connector for this, and I have no connection on the BLACK/ white wire at the key loop end. Broken, unused...?

I have installed about 10 variable type remote starts over the years, including UltraStart, Scytek, Bulldog, and 1 or 2 others. I know some that don't want to even tackle a VW installation. This transponder bypass is a challenge and I could use some help.

Thanks.

A follow up: I misunderstood the placement of the RF chip in the key body. Yes, it is not on the PCB. I am undergoing further attempts using the half of the key body with the chip in it placed into the bypass winding area. I still have concerns about the 1 BLACK/ white wire of the key loop that seems to go nowhere at the loop.
Thanks for your input.

Pick up a 556uw and follow the Euro instructions. it will tie into the factory antenna ring. Also, which key (valet key or key with remote) are you using for the bypass?

I am not 100% sure on the truth, but from what I have heard, the remote keys are IR and can be a royal PITA to get the windings correct. The valet key makes life a little easier. I have also had a few VW's that would not work with just 1/2 of the remote key wrapped and had to use the entire key to get it to work.

Possibly because the chip is glass and EXTREMELY brittle.
Use the whole key or buy a valet key, it will work better anyway.
Follow the rest of Kenny's comments to the letter.
I did an 05 A3 using a 556 and valet key, no problems.

Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Can someone provide me with remote start wiring info for a Volkswagen Tiguan 2009. I plan to use an idatalink ADS-AL CA 64 and tap the factory key antenna and looping around the key fob(not the valet). Other than that, is there any other particular info I should know ?

Thank in advance for any info you can provide !

only way to know for sure if it is correct is to test and verify the wires you are asking about with a digital volt meter.

edit: sorry i posted in the wrong thread

But the response still works in this thread (if this is not the one it was originally supposed to be posted in).
