I have a Viper 5501 installed in my 04 Grand Prix GTP. I am using a XK09 module to do the door locks/trunk pop and PK3 bypass. Door locks, trunk pop, light flashes work. Remote starting works when I put the key in the ignition, but it won't start without the key in the ignition. When I try to start without the key, the doors unlock, lock as soon as ignition activates then the car displays "Starting disabled due to theft system" and the doors lock. The only setup instructions listed were to connect D2D wire first, then 20 Pin wire harness. Then connect keyless data wires to ground until the light came on XK09. I did that, light came on the XK09 but still no PK3 bypass action going on. Are there any other programming steps? Am I missing something? Thanks in advance all!

Might have some bad news for you. The DEI XK09 flashed with the 9.DLGM5X firmware is a "Doorlock" module only. It does not handle the PK3 transponder bypass.

Programming a new transponder key to the G.P.'s PK3 system is real easy. You can get a un-cut transponder key for $10, program it ( using a R/S ) and place it in a 556UW ($15 ).

Ahh yea...Now that I re-read Xpresskit's site..."OEM Remote Start Activation". Thanks! I'll order a 556UW and a key.

OK, I lied. XK09 only unlocks drivers door, but not the other doors. Like its stuck in 2nd unlock or something. Ideas on that?

Rookie question here: Is it possible to daisy chain the XK09 and the 556UW or do I need to do the 556UW ONLY and hardwire the rest?

Personally, I use iDatalink bypass modules. For that vehicle, they offer a "combo" module that will handle the PassKey3 transponder bypass thru data, the locks, alarm, trunk release and supply some alarm status signals. Makes life easy. Also, I always connect the units in the W2W mode.
I have never used an XK09 for your application, so I can say why it is not controlling the doors properly. Did you make the connection to the Keyless Data wire ( BLACK/ White wire at BCM, C1 connector, pin 37 )?
As for multiple modules on the Viper 5501, in W2W mode you can use the Dark Blue (-) Status Output and the Blue/White (-) 2nd Status Output as GWR for module control. ------------- Soldering is fun!

I did make the keyless data connection. This car hasn't had the factory remote for a long time. Could it be that there is a setting in the car's computer to only unlock the drivers door via the remote?
I'll check out that bypass module, combos are good as I don't know where I would put another module. Thanks!

Think that car has "progressive unlock". Have you tried two unlocks in a row ( within a second of each other )?
As for the iDatalink bypass module, look for an ADS DLSL GM1. It's a Solo series and should come with the correct firmware pre-loaded. ------------- Soldering is fun!

Yea, I tried to hit unlock twice, just re-unlocks the drivers door.

im pretty sure that you dont need an interface module to do the locks on this year grand prix. if i remember from others that ive done the lock wires can be found either at the BCM or the drivers side fuse box along with the factory arm and disarm. i think the BCM is under the drivers side dash. lock wires are RED / black and ORANGE / black, negative trigger.
so if all else fails and you cant get the interface working like you want then you can always just bypass it because its not necessary.

Could I flash my XK09 with the DLPKGM firmware? That appears to do PK3 bypass.

Flashing my XK09 with DLPKGM did allow me to start the car remotely, however, the door locks and trunk wouldn't work and the headlights were flashing like the car was being stolen. Also, interior gauges did their self check, but then all shut off. TCS off light was on and the display was complaining about charging system failure and low fuel (even though there is a full tank). Even after take over with a key. Car starts and works fine with a key. Needless to say I'm buying another module. Thanks!

that sounds like a wiring problem with the ignition harness. when guages dont turn on all the way and the info center is complaining that its not getting signals from different systems of the car that usually means something is not getting power during remote start.

I metered everything before I connected...Wonder why it works perfectly when I put the key in the ignition and remote start. Have never needed to connect the keysense wire before, should I give it a shot and see if it fixes the problem?

Yes, Keysense is required on that car. Here is some more info from ReadyRemote : Keysense Light Green (required) (-) ignition harness or BCM, conn. C1, pin 40 The BCM (Body Control Module) is below the driver side dash to the left of the steering column. If the service security lights comes on during remote start or after key takeover, see Tech Doc 1502. Here is a link to a file that should include Tech Tip #1502 : https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1080
Lock and Alarm info : Power Lock RED / Black (-) BCM, conn. C2, pin 2 Power Unlock ORANGE / Black (-) BCM, conn. C2, pin 11 Factory Alarm Arm Light Green (-) BCM, conn. C2, pin 22 Factory Alarm Disarm Purple (-) BCM, conn. C2, pin 24 ------------- Soldering is fun!

Since I don't have a dedicated Keysense output...OK to use the Status Output? Better option? Thanks!

Yea, same behavior even with the keysense wire connected to status wire of Viper. I'm going to order a different bypass as I double checked everything is wired up correctly.

I removed the bypass out of the car and just have the remote start hooked up to parking lights only. The brights work, but the headlights do not. The relay under the hood clicks like they are trying to turn on and neither front headlight fuse is broken. Anyone have ideas?

Somehow in the process, both front headlights blew...New bulbs and its good to go. Thanks again to everyone who helped me out with this install.
