A couple quick questions before you dive in and possibly waste your time and money (which could end up being a lot).

1) Are you 100% confident in your electrical abilities. What I mean is that anyone can slap together a few wires and call it a day, but are you confident in your abilities to test, troubleshoot, and correctly attach wiring so it will be reliable?

2) Do you have a decent quality Digital Multimeter to test and verify wiring with?

If any of the answers above are no, then I highly suggest bringing it to a professional. I am by no way trying to talk you out of taking on the challenge or trying to disrespect you at all, but I honestly can't tell you how many people I've seen attempt a remote start and fail miserably. Sometimes it ends in just a little extra installation cost by a professional to undo incorrect wiring and other times it turns into a couple thousand dollar mistake when the wrong wire is connected and the computer or other high cost components are destroyed in the blink of an eye.

If the answer is a 100% Yes to both questions above then I am more than happy to help. Just make sure to plan for at least 4 hours installation so you can take your time, test EVERYTHING, and do it right the first time.

Do you have a wire diagram / information sheet for the vehicle yet? Also, save yourself from possible future hassle and use the Wire 2 Wire (W2W) method for the install. DEI Data 2 Data (D2D) can be very unreliable. Also make sure to properly connect or install the hood pin for safety and use a good reliable tach signal.

yes I have run an automotive repair shop for 15 years so access to wiring diagrams and good tools are no problem. I have never attempted a remote start and from what you just stated I already made a few mistakes. I have it wired d2d with the thought of using "virtual" tach. So I'm going to switch to w2w and run a tack wire from the engine compartment.

Yes. Although D2D is easier in the beginning and is a lot easier if everything works correctly, it can be very unreliable and then doesn't allow you to test anything to find the problem. Then it's a lot harder to change it to W2W when it's already mostly in the vehicle. Where-as an extra few minutes at the bench will save a lot of hassle down the road. As far as the tach goes, in southern states you can get away with virtual tach since the temperature doesn't really drop too low, but with where you are, you will experience issues with it starting in cold weather. The tach signal is a much more reliable source for the system to know when the vehicle is running. This also helps prevent over cranking in nice weather and most systems will utilize the tach for an over-rev protection. So if something ever caused the throttle to stick, you wouldn't go out to an over-revved (ie blown) motor.

Remote starters are normally not difficult to install... it's usually the troubleshooting that makes them difficult since there are quite a few components that have to get the proper signals at the proper time. The troubleshooting is what makes them a little more difficult. As long as you take your time, test EVERYTHING, and do it right, you should have no problem doing it.

No need to run into the engine compartment on this one. Remove the headlight switch vent assembly to the left of the cluster and you will see the harness going to the cluster. It is secured by two pieces of grey tape. There is a white wire it this harness that you can use for tach. Good luck with your install.

Need some help still. have everything hooked up w2w tach lead from white wire at cluster but when I hit the start it cranks for approx 1 sec then repeats 2 more time without starting. I did the tach learn and it seemed to learn fine I also made sure the 4113 is in tach mode not virtual etc. when I try and program the glpkgm holding the program button plugging in the connectors the led lights red and that's as far as it will go. When I do the shutdown error message it gives me 3 led flashed saying tach or voltage problem.

Try starting it with the key in the ignition (just in the ignition, not turned to on or anything). Can't remember if the gm's worked like that or not, but it's worth a try.

No it won't start with key in ignition but if I have the truck running I can't enable it pull the key out and it stays running.

And you said that it programmed the tach correctly? It is most likely an issue with the bypass since it wouldn't program correctly. Try doing a factory reset on the bypass. It sounds like maybe the firmware isn't loaded correctly...

The remote start doesn't have the ability to know the bypass is not working. This is not a tach issue. Are you starting the truck after the led flashes rapidly? The install guide states that it should turn off after starting.
