Hoping someone has the install instructions for this unit...

I have the new style of remote and I am hoping the install instructions can show me how to program the options using the two way remote...

The unit was professionally installed and the options are not to my liking.

I was also wondering how to programming a 2nd car remote to the unit in my truck.  The installer only programed two (two-way remotes) my wifes and mine and now the one way remote is NOT working.  I am assuming I need all three remotes to reprogram them to my truck?

While this guide (    https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/file.asp?ID=1092   )  is for the FT 6000 AS system, the programming of remotes should be the same.

I had a look at those install instructions and the two-way remote I have does NOT have numbered keys.

The remote I have is the new 2w 901 SS with lock, unlock, function, hatch and start buttons...

In the owners guide it states how to enter menu 2 and then I am at a loss as to what to press next?

I think it's function button and start for 2.5 sec to enter menu 2 (I am at work and don't have manual handy)

Sorry, can't help too much with programming via remote.  I have and use the OP-500 Programmer.

Bring it to a shop and have it programmed with a OP500.

In my experience, I've seen too many problems created by customers trying to do their own programming via remotes, when it takes 2 minutes to do it properly with a OP500.

I wouldn't be asking to use the remotes if the shop had gotten it right the first THREE times...

140 km round trip each time

The installer is certified, but has never installed the model I asked for in a diesel truck and I am not even sure what he is using to program it (not allowed in the install bay).

They try and discourage customers from going with the pro-series (less profit margin??)  They even told me how expensive the remote was to replace.  In an effort to get me to change my mind.

I have installed remote starts before, but with all the computer controls I didn't want to mess around.  I also didn't want to buy the OP 500 since I am just a DIY'er

I have even installed a remote start/alarm on a Honda Foreman ATV...  My motto is where there is a will there is a way posted_image

Even the pros are human and mistakes can be made, but if I farm everything out I will learn nothing, and my wallet will be empty... posted_image

The installer is also booked SOLID and I work shift work so trying to arrange another appointment is being a royal pain..posted_image

I guess I will try ONE more time at the shop...  If not anyone have a OP 500 they want to sell??

Lock is usually considered Button 1 by Compustar.  Compare the instructions for the One-Way and Two-Way
remotes to correlate the buttons.

I am sure it is possible to program the FT6200 s with the remotes.  The few times I tried doing it ( with basic
4 button one way remotes ) was a trail and error process.  The timing of the button presses and the waiting
for the confirmation signal to proceed was critical.  The actual instructions are accurate but obtuse and subject
to multiple interpretations.   Plan on spending an hour or two at this.  The big problem is if you get lost in the
menus, you can unintentionally change an option.  This will be hard to see as no "printout" of the current option
settings is possible.  ( I had the luxury of connecting the OP-500 to see my mistakes and verify my changes...)
There is a way to reset all the options in a particular Menu group back to the factory defaults in case you make
and big error.  Please note that the Menu Groups, Options and functions can and sometimes do change slightly
with the firmware version loaded on your FT6200 s.

Occasionally you will find a used OP-500 on EBay for around $50.  Full new retail is $80 to $100.

Thanks Kreg

I am just frustrated a bit...  Not to mention our neck of the woods is experiencing an arctic outflow warning...

The temperatures with wind chill are hitting -23 C so having the timer start function when the truck is out of range would have been a bonus to say the least.

IF the next time I go to the installer he still doesn't get it I will buy the OP500 that way I can change the setting as need be.

I tend to use the one-way remote and don't use the OP-500 Programmer.

I am pro dealer and always try to sell the pro stuff since it has a 2 year warranty on the remotes? What kind of sales guys are these?

Anyway.. Reprogram the remotes and use the one-way

Turn ignition on off 5 times and the parking lights should flash.

Hit the lock button on the pager.. the car will flash the lights when you press the button.. proceed to the next and it will respond again and then you program the one way and the system will flash 2 times and end programming mode.
