Does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 2004 VW Beetle to do a remote starter?  2002 & 2006 are listed.  Is it the same as either of these?

Thanks,

Rick

It will be the same as one of them. Use a meter to see which one is correct.

I have installed several remote starters on automatic transmissions. This is my first attempt at a manual transmission. I have done some reading and some suggest a shutdown sequence for the remote which senses the door pins on closure thereby knowing it is out of gear.  Also read about proximity sensors installed on the shifter.

What method is reccommended for detecting neutral on this vehicle?  I am not interested in the shut down sequence each time vehicle it turned off.  I think engaging the remote starter each time before exiting in a bad idea for me.  Any chance there is a neutral safety switch installed in this vehicle?

I am going to be installing a Autostart AS-2381 in this vehicle

The remote starter should have the safety sequence built into it if it is made for a manual transmission. If it is not designed for a manual transmission then get one that is. As far as I know there is no NSS wire on that car. From what I can find on that starter, it is not designed for a manual transmission. Picking up a proper r/s unit and activating the sequence may be your only option.
