2012 Manual Trans Wrangler Unlimited
Viper 5704 remote start in manual mode
Dball FW: 401.CHRYSLER v5.06

used the pink remote start ignition neg wire (small gauge)to ground the clutch switch wire (through a diode) and it works. the dball is taking care of all the starting functions so none of the heavy gauge RS wires are connected from the 5704 except for the ignition wire because the firmware manual said to hook it up. the jeep starts fine when the 5704 is programmed to manual or automatic mode. the problem is when in manual mode and you complete the manual mode sequence (screen on remote indicates that manual mode has been properly set) it will remote start if you try to remote start it shortly after arming the vehicle. but if you properly set manual mode and try to remote start in the morning it will not start and the lights will blink 7 times indicating MTS error even though the remote shows everything as being fine until you try to start it. any ideas?

other problem is it keeps throwing a clutch switch code. it has cleared itself too but it comes back. the clutch switch always works fine though, jeep always starts with the key or the rs (when it hasnt been a while since mt mode has been engaged)

There is a note on the clutch switch wiring:
May need to interrupt dk. GREEN/ orange, pin 1 of the clutch switch during remote start to avoid check engine light.

But why are you using the light gauge pink ignition wire, you should be using the purple (-) start wire to bypass the clutch. Maybe thats why... The purple wire only bypasses it when the car starts. The pink keeps it bypassed the whole time the car is running on remote start. maybe the car doesn't like it bypassed the whole time...Just a thought.

As for the unit exiting manual mode, maybe you should hard wire the parking brake wire to the dark GREEN / WHITE parking brake wire in the car instead of taking it off the DB-ALL. Maybe the DBALL is dropping the parking brake output while its sitting over night. The parking brake wire could be found 3 places. The parking brake in the center console, the wiring harness going from the center console up behind the dash on the drivers side, and behind the cluster.

flobee is probably right about having to interrupt the wire at the clutch switch in addition to grounding the other wire. i had the same issue with a challenger and once i tested the three wires i realized that one wire shows ground and the other wire switches from ground to an open circuit. without interrupting that wire during remote start the car is seeing ground on both of those wires instead of just one like it would if you actually push the clutch in.

great! i appreciate your insight. it all makes sense. the reason i started using the pink wire is a couple years ago i had a car that wouldn't rs on the purple wire for some reason. havent had an issue using the pink before, it just stays grounded till key takeover.
