Does anyone know if the viper 5901 can be set to auto start at a specific time? I have seen other remote starters do so and this Viper supposedly more high end then those.

I'm not aware of these units having the ability to start at a set time of the day.  Might want to try finding a DEI 556t.

How does this work? Does it just pair to the unit or is there wiring involved?

Never put one in. Looks like 5 wires to connect. Found this site, it shows wiring diagram: https://www.remotestartexperts.com/dei-556t.html
