Hello, new to the forum.
My wife bought me this remote start for Christmas from Bestbuy for my 08 Focus, they cant install it until the end of Jan, called the next store a little farther away, get me in Feb...geez.

I've never installed one but I can read schematics\wire diagrams, I've found the diagrams for my car, she bought everything to install it, a tilt switch and a flashlogic (for the pats). I have a few questions and hopefully somebody can help me a little bit.

Is the arm and disarm wire the lock and unlock wire? what is the tilt switch for, nothing in the guide about that, is that for the hood or trunk for safety reasons? also the second starter turn on wire?

It just doesnt look that hard to me, its a matter of connecting to the right wires.....thanks for any help at all!

Which Flashlogic bypass module?  Some need to be flashed with firmware prior to install.

Do you have a Digital Multi Meter and soldering gun ready to go?

It looks easy until you remove the dash panels...   posted_image

It says FLCAN on the back, its suppose to be able to program with no additional software. Yes I have a soldering gun and multi meter. I got a separate wire diagram for that how to hook up to the pats.

The installation manual for the FLCAN should show a firmware at the top. It'll probably have the letters FM (Ford and Mercury) and maybe TB (Transponder Bypass) in it.

The FLCAN comes off the shelf with a Chrysler firmware on it. There is a programming device (I think they call it Weblink) that connects to your computer to change the firmware on the module. You also need to have an account with the manufacturer of the FLCAN to flash new firmware, and they don't allow accounts for do-it-yourselfers.

So your first roadblock would be to get someone (maybe the people at Best Buy?) to flash the correct firmware to the module.

And that's sad to hear that they're selling product that they're not prepared to install in a timely manner. Too bad you're not in Boston!

Well I"ll just take it back then, you should be able to do-it-yourself, that's a bunch of crap. Any advice for other models that are out there? I don't need anything fancy, just a 1 button remote is good for me.

Keep the Avital 4111 and exchange the FLCAN for a DEI PKALL.  It should be less expensive and perform the same bypass function.
You will need two working, non-clone, keys to program the bypass module.  Here is a link to the install guide :

ok thanks,do they also sell that one at Bestbuy do you know? thanks for your help....I do majority of all mechanical work on my vehicles, some of my buddies have had some bad experiences with radio installation, etc...I just dont like the idea of somebody at Bestbuy cutting or splicing into the wires of my car, I would prefer to do it myself....maybe the long wait to have it installed is my sign to not let them do it...lol

Not sure if BestBuy carries the PKALL.  Actually the FLCAN is the better bypass module.  It is easier to program.  You should see if they will flash the module with the correct TB FM2 firmware.   Here is a link to the install guide  :  https://www.flashlogic.com/support/get-install-guide/guide_id/9938

There is another post currently on a 2008 Focus with Avital 4103 and PKALL that might provide some info / insights :  https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~133113~PN~1
