This is my first post so I hope this question isn't too idiotic. I'm going through some DEI install manuals (Viper 5701, Avital 5303L) and they say the factory arm/disarm (-) should be connected to a relay, even when polarity doesn't need to be changed. Is this a standard requirement? Do factory arm/disarm triggers need that much current? Or am I missing something here? Thanks!

None at the moment -- just a general question. The DEI manuals say to always use a relay, so I'm just wondering if the OEM arm/disarm is typically a high current application on most vehicles.

Usually no relay is required for this. Most arm low current and a straight connection from car to alarm is fine...

Thanks Mike. That's what I thought -- but figured I'd ask in case I was missing something.
