Looking to put a compustar remote start in my wifes truck. I'm doing just the cm 6200s with the 9000 remote. No alarm. Very vague instructions on the net. I feel confident in being able to install this, but have a couple ?s. I have read that some remote starts require resistors for the p lights. Didn't come with any and I haven't seen an install sheet that showed it for a compustar unit. Most installs show a bypass, but her rig don't have the sentry key that requires it. So I guess I'm just verifying that i don't need any resistors or anything special to install this. Do I still need a bypass to do the doors and locks?

you will need a bypass for the locks and p.lights if you don't want to use relays with resistors.expresskit has thr DLCH which will work for that vehicle.

It shows the install with a ADS AL CA bypass module flashed with AL(DL) CH5 firmware. With your Compustar unit you
could use the Blade AL cartridge bypass module or the external ADS AL CA module. Either will save you some time and
relay / resistor use. The difficult part would be obtaining the iDatalink bypass module flashed with the correct firmware.
Even though your truck does not have a transponder based ignition immobilizer system, you still need to control the
Starter MUX wire. The iDatalink bypass module will do that for you but you can use relays and resistors as shown in

As mentioned, interfacing the one wire door lock system will require relays and resistors if you are not using a bypass
module. This can be done fairly easily with the DEI 451M module. They can be found at various online sellers for less

The Parking Light control ( not mandatory ) will also require a relay and resistor. Here is a link to the diagram from Bulldog Security :

You could use either diagram depending on which Compustar Parking Light output wire ( + or - ) you wished to use.

Wow! Thanks for the info. Thinking I might just go the bypass route. Learned from a member that I need to program it to the remotes as well? He offered me a decent deal so maybe I will go that route.
