Subject: viper 5101 aux button problems

Hello-

I am trying to add a OEM trunk release to my 2008 Honda Civic.  I have everything wired correctly but I am not getting a signal from my Viper 5101 starters RED / white wire to activate the trunk release.  I know this because if I touch a seperate wire from a ground bolt to the alarm/relay connection, everything works as it should.

When I hold down the aux button, it just unlocks the front door only, doesnt not lock it or do anything else.  Is it programming issue with the alarm, a valet switch issue, or wires crossed? backfeed or something?  I didnt do the original starter install.

Finally, any advice as to where to power this? I have the relay close to the starter brain above the pedals-t tap or add a circuit perhaps?

Thank you so much.

When u hold down the aux button it unlock the front door? So what happens when u hit the unlock button? The door should not open when u hold down the aux button .

All other buttons work properly.  The Honda key will unlock just the front door if you press it once, maybe there is a related issue?

Honda's key fob is built into the ignition key, so it is on my keychain along with the Viper fob.

Well the thing is the lock and unlock wires from the viper brain is usually hooked up to the lock and unlock wires in the car I suspect the person that did the install thought he put that RED / white to the trunk release wire and wired it to the unlock wire for the door

Lock and unlock work as they should on the viper remote.

The factory wiring uses the green wire. This would only work if I added a new wire to the wire harness that feeds the rear electrical components and my newly added release. In other words if I had a oem fob with the trunk release option, there are several options to modify this method.

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun, but how would that relate to the viper wiring?

Oh my bad I just followed what you are trying to do and if the remote that came with the car doesn't have a trunk release option then I think it cannot be done

It can be done per many write ups on civic forums. The problem is related to the viper unit, can anyone else help?

i tried the steps in https://directeddealers.com/manuals/IG/viper/N4102_2008_09_web.pdf to reprogram the remote and nothing happened.  the steps are quite confusing, so if someone can direct me step by step that would be helpful.

thank you again for your time and help

Ok-here it is:

press and hold function button on remote for 10 secs

hold remote start button till it blinks 3 times

open door

turn key to on position

press and release valet button once, release, and then again and hold

hold lock button for 1 sec

release valet and turn key off

after some researching, this may have something to do with the alarm brain programming, done with software from the installer.  does this make sense to anyone? bit writer?
