I'm getting conflicting info on the factory alarm wires for a 2010 Escape.
For arming Directed states the 2 wires as both (-).
Arm PURPLE / green and YELLOW /GREEN (w/driv door keypad)      both -      driver kick, door harness

However, Fortin lists them as (+).
YELLOW /GREEN and PURPLE / Green Diode isolate. In Driver Running Board Harness

What do I trigger those wires with while testing them? I've never worked with a car the uses 2 wires to arm.

Also, do the arm/disarm wires lock/unlock as well on this car?

pressing the last 2 numbers on the driver door  keypad  simultaneously should pulse your arm wires so you can test them

I also believe pulsing the driver door pin while locking will arm the oem alarm

I was able to find the last 2 key pad button wires that are listed as the arm wires. However, I wasn't able to find the PURPLE / Brown disarm wire in that harness coming from the door.
Is it possible that the car doesn't have factory alarm?

I locked the doors using the last 2 key pad buttons as the arm, waited 1 minute then pulled up the lock lever by hand and opened the door from the outside. There was no honking, everything normal..
Is this a reasonable test to see if the car has a factory alarm?

Seems reasonable. If you have the factory keyless transmitter which is usually built into the key press lock on it twice and wait a few Minutes if you are in doubt. I have remote started a pile of the 08- 12 escapes and haven't had one with factory alarm. I am in the states though. Seems as though Canadas laws are stricter with Alarms and immobilizers from the factory

I've installed several r.s. units on this vehicle that didn't have a alarm so yes it is possible that it doesn't have a alarm

Do you normally figure that out by testing for an alarm? I don't imagine everyone would know if their car has a factory alarm.

Yes I test for one by:
(Driver's window must be rolled down)

1.)lock the driver's door with the driver's lock switch then close the door. Wait a minute or two then open the door from the inside door handle. If no alarm sounds then you obviously don't have a alarm.

Also try two other tests. a.) Try arming the alarm with the factory keyless entry and b.) try arming the alarm by locking the driver's door with the key. I almost forgot, make sure the hood, rear hatch and all the doors are closed when performing these tests. If no alarm sounds you don't have a alarm.
