I just pulled code alarm sure start and I'm currently upgrading to the TW2 by Code Alarm. I cannot get the new alarm to recognize the tach line when I try to program the remote start feature. I want to test it but I don't want to blow out any sensors. Do I use a 12 volt tester or do I need a multi meter? I've installed plenty of alarms but I'm new to the remote start. Any help would be appreciated.

I hope that you understand my english....

You need a multimeter to detect tach wire. NEVER do it with a 12 volt tester.

1.-set your multimeter in Volts AC, (NOT in Volts DC)
2.-Attach red wire from multimeter on 12V on your battery.
3.-Attach black wire from your multimeter in the target wire, (wire that you guess is the tach wire from your car)
4.-Start your vehicle and the multimeter should read
0.6 to 1 V AC aproximately, when you accelerate your car, the read in the multimeter should rise.
5.- Finish, you have found the tach wire.
