Hi everybody. I was wondering if the experienced installers could give me some advice. I will be installing a remote start in my new car but want to take it out when I give car back at end of lease. What connections would be best for this? That leave the least amount of wire cutting? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Mar

Solder and sleeve and buy a new loom at the end of the lease.
Otherwise the best quality would be Molex Sureseal, very expensive and you should have special crimping tools for the terminals, else probably your local Radio Shack or Mouser or Farnell on line.

how long is the lease? Most remote start installs you should not be cutting wires anyway to wrap and solder. dont tell the dealership. Just install it and take it out before you turn it in. They will never know.

they wont go over every inch of your car when you turn it in, including the wiring unless there is something obviously wrong with the cars electrical system. install the alarm the best way possible with solder and tape/heat shrink to avoid creating actual problems with the car due to bad connections. if you do it right then they will never ever know that something was installed in the car.

If there's a siren involved, either zip-tie in a secure location or use a metal perforated strip of the type you once got with car radios and with that bolt the siren to an existing bolt.
If you have to drill a hole for an LED and or valet switch use a switch blank that you can replace.

Thanks everybody for the responses. Will do solder clean install, stealth mode, so they will not no it was installed. Lease three years.

Thanks,

what year make and model is in question? for most newer chrysler products there is a t harness available which means no splicing except maybe for parking lights.

T-Harnesses, in the UK for Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Nissan, Toyota?
In my dreams, can't even do a DATA by-pass on any Euros yet!

that's because you guys always have to do things the hard way, us Americans know a thing or two about laziness, T-harnesses all the way!

shouldnt Mercedes at least have a T-harness since they are similar to Chrysler?

Talk about the hard way, the vehicles are the same but not quite!
I did a Cat I alarm and R/S with driver priority unlock on a Nissan Navara yesterday.
According to Wiki this is identical to the US Frontier.
Well guess what, apart from you lot having the steering wheel on the wrong side ALL of the wire colours are different except grey starter.
Also built in dome supervision so instead of the 4 wires and diodes at a black plug (or 4 differently coloured wires at a white plug on the UK version) I used a puddle lamp feed. In other words always check this out, a real time saver, the dome lights fade within 2 seconds of lock/arm.
For a first time install, I was amazed at how easy it was.

i actually have a 2011 frontier, i used an FL-CAN to do most of my viper 5901. it is a very easy truck, as far as the wire colors being different i think it depends on where you find the wires on that truck. the ignition harness runs into the drivers kick panel and the wire colors change along the way so that might have been what happened. it also keeps you from fighting with the short wire length at the back of the key cylinder, so next time you do one check it out and it might save you some headache. the only wire that is not in the kick panel is the 2nd starter. i dont know about the exact difference between the frontier/navara, so i could be wrong.

Everything is in and working great. I decided to solder the wires together instead of crimping them. Compustar 6200 blade-AL 2 way.
