Intermittent starter faults would point to a faulty or failed connections to an off-board starter relay.
Having said that neither I or any other pro would fail to point out that we are dealing with a 40 year old car.
Have you tried Googling that Black Widow device?
------------- Amateurs assume, don't test and have problems; pros test first. I am not a free install service.
Read the installation manual, do a search here or online for your vehicle wiring before posting.

Hi thanks for your reply, yes I have googled for that device but cannot locate any information, hence the post,I am an electronics technician of over 30 years experience so am quite capable of fault finding, just trying to locate a pin-out for the all black wiring plug,I cannot find the starter relay ,I suspect it may be on board the alarm module now, I measured only 5 volts on the starter solenoid so yes i realise it is either a bad connection or possibly burnt relay contact ,it happens intermittently so the information would be handy to fault find without having to tear apart the wiring unnecessarily...
thank you for your help
