Hello every one, I recently helped my 16 year old son install a nice audio system in his first car (1997 nissan maxima). As we were searching for all of his audio equipment we noticed how cheap car alarms were (viper 350 plus). We weren't concerned with some one stealing his car but it also came with keyless entry which his car does not have. We decided an alarm might keep other kids from messing with it and the keyless entry would be convenient. Anyways during the alarm install (viper 350 plus) we decided not to hook up the ignition and start kill wires because like I said were not concerned with some one stealing his car and didn't want any "maybe" starting problems in the future, plus cutting wires. The install went great, the keyless entry and alarm work fine but I noticed turning the key on resets things in the alarm if the ignition wire was hooked up. So my question to you guys is, if I hook up the ignition wire do I have to hook up the starter kill wires? My hope is I don't have too but my issue is that out of the 12 pin connector is a orange and yellow wire that go into a relay. Out of the relay is a green,black and yellow wire. I know how they hookup but if I don't have to hook up the starter kill wires do I cut the yellow ignition wire before the relay or use it out of the relay and not hook up the green and black? Sorry for the boring post, pro and cons to having the ignition wire hooked up or not would be greatly appreciated. Thanks,

Hooking up the ignition wire is mandatory for the above reasons, also do you want the alarm to start triggering off all the time?
No you don't have to connect the starter cuts.

Forget the relay, win it!
Just hook up yellow wire to ignition.
The reason being that the ign. wire connected acts as a stand-off or détente disabling the alarm whilst the ign. is on.
It's possible to press the alarm button by mistake and set it whilst driving, the hit a bump in the road.....

Nice! I had a couple of Maximas, 10 and 15 years ago, nice but poor seating if you're over 6' and both autoboxes failed on 75,000miles.

Amongst others, 2 Maxis and 3 Gallants over the last 20 years, one thing in common, poor seating and the chairs wouldn't go back far enough. Drive for about 11/2 half hours and I had to crawl out!
No problem with Audi, Merc or BMW/Rover I also owned.
Reliability (not autobox) = Japanese.
Build quality (once upon a time) = German.
Styling (and rust as a no extra price option) = Italian.
Rubbish electrics = French.
Ride and handling = British*
*Oh wait there aren't any British manufacturers...even Ford don't actually build cars here anymore, only engines, gearboxes and specialised stuff, race and rally.
