I am having issues with my Compustar CS-700a alarm that i installed into my 1998 Honda civic DX hatchback. Vehicle has manual transmission, manual door locks, manual windows, no factory alarm. Very basic install here since i did not wire in the keyless entry. I plan to later down the road. I soldered my connections to the parking light's, door tigger, 12v constant, and igntion 12v. Starter kill & siren i used butt connectors. Here's how i wired the alarm:
Connector 1 main harness
- Red (+) constant 12v @ White in ignition harness
- Green (+) 12v ignition @ BLACK / YELLOW in ignition harness
- Brown (+) siren output @ Red from siren
- RED / White (+/-) door trigger input @ Light GREEN/ red (-) lower kick panel
- GREEN / WHITE (+/-) parking light output @ RED / black (+) fuse panel
- Black (-) ground @ chassis ground (this also has a gold wire soldered to it from the manufacturer that i believe goes to the siren negative. I put seperate ring terminals on this wire and on the black wire from siren and put both of them along with the black wire (its own ring terminal) from brain all on the same ground to chassis.
Connector 2 Lock Connector. I left his harness out as i was not installing keyless entry anytime soon.
Connector 3
- White (-) Horn output @ gray to factory horn. I did not connect this since i'm using supplied siren
- Blue (-) Ground when armed output @ this is prewired to starter kill so i left it alone
- Gray/black (-) instant trigger input @ not connected
- Violet (-) Dome light output @ light GREEN/ black (-) not connected because domelight does not work
- Gray/White (-) Auxilary input 1 @ not connected
- BLACK/ White (-) Auxilary input 2 @ not connected
- Yellow (-) Auxilary 1 output @ not connected
- Yellow/White (-) Auxilry 2 outpute @ not connected
Connector 4 Shock Sensor connected to shock sensor which i mounted to steel plate on steering column. Set at level 3
Connector 5 LED connected to LED light.
On the other side of Module is the antenna port (left unplugged), Antenna wire, and jumper settings. Jumpers look like this: + ## - Door trigger i put jumper on the right two prongs. Parking lights i put jumper on left two prongs. Starter kill i used butt connectors to wire inline to the BLACK/ White wire in the ignition wire harness.
Tested everything. Arm and disarm works fine. I armed the unit, opened the door and the alarm was triggered. Parking lights flash when armed/disarmed. My problem is that the alarm arms and disarms itself randomly all the time. It has even happened while i was driving. I disable the passive lock/arm feature, still does it. I disabled the shock sensor, still does it. I eventually decided to pull the alarm out of the car to check all the wiring. All insulation is intact and no bare wiring showing. All connections were triple checked before i pulled it out. I called Compustar and they stated that since it was not installed but a certified installed it was not under warranty and they could do little to help. Did i wire it in wrong? I know my way around electrical and have an very good DMM (fluke automotive meter). I am an automotive tech with 12 years experience so i know my way around electrical wiring. Do i have a bunk unit. Thank you for your help.
To be honest I can't see any thing wrong, assuming Comp's green is definitely ignition sense, that wire "tells" the alarm the ignition is on don't arm. There could be a problem there OR check your ground and power supply points, you might have a "bad" ground, i.e. resistance/corrosion at the bolt.
