  Hi,

I am having an issue with my factory alarm. Here is a synopsis of what happened: I had my car in storage for the last 7 years; The car was stored in a garage. I got the car back up and running, when I brought the car back from the mechanic I tested the key fob by locking the doors and unlocking the doors (they worked); after that, is when I started having an issue with the alarm; when I opened the door the alarm went off and could not be silenced by the key fob, or even starting the car. I figured out that if you put the key in the lock and turn it as if you were unlocking it that would work. Could it be a loose connection where the keyless entry is not sending the signal to the theft computer, but when you turn the key it does get the signal? Are they usually wired autonomously? The car battery is brand new, but the fob keys were 10 years old, but did unlock the car. Thanks

Not sure about the fob part, but the switch that senses the key being turned in the door often goes bad.

Next time this happens, try turning the key in the passenger door or trunk and see if that disarms it.

Have you checked the battery in the key fob?
