Hey

I just installed a an avital remote start in a 1988 pontiac firebird formula i used relays to the lock and unlock.  all works good

but when i lock the doors the lock pulse holds for like 60 seconds or so that makes a awful chattering on my door locks i tested with a

volt meter also the unlock shuts right off but the lock holds any ideas?

Thanks

Unit is probably faulty or you have a sticking relay, remove the units wire from the relay and test the time of the pulse or you haven't dioded the relays, 1N4004 across the coil terminals, band to POS terminal.

That was an example, you wouldn't use 87a if you were simply say going from alarm's NEG (-) output to a type "A" POS (+) lock trigger that would be this:-type_a_locks.bmp
Note different way I've used the diodes, equally functional.

Does that unit have something similar to comfort closure and is it set to on at 60 seconds perhaps?

Good point but I thought that it was doing it on unlock, still need to diode the relays.
Turn off comfort close.
