i really need help to figure out this problem!
i installed Viper 5901 and DEI 520T backup battery in French Toyota Land cruiser 120 (KZJ120). everything works perfectly except remote start.
it shuts off immediately as soon as ignition gets on. and a few seconds later, viper remote shows 'remote start error'.
this car is automatic.
1. push remote start button
2. car small light flashes once
3. ignition gets on for a moment
4. immediately shuts off
5. nothing happens (no flashes)
6. a few seconds later, remote shows 'remote start error'.
right now I made following connections.
H2/21 VIOLET / YELLOW (-) 200mA STARTER OUTPUT
connected to relay 85 (86 = constant 12V, 30 = constant 12v, 87 = ST2, 87a = none)
H3/1 PINK (+) IGNITION 1 INPUT/OUTPUT
connected to IG1
H3/2 RED / WHITE (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 2
connected to AM2 (constant 12v)
H3/3 ORANGE (+) ACCESSORY OUTPUT
connected to ACC
H3/4 VIOLET (+) STARTER OUTPUT (CAR SIDE)
connected to ST1 (car side)
H3/5 Green (+) STARTER OUTPUT (KEY SIDE)
connected to ST1 (key side)
H3/6 RED (+) FUSED (30A) IGNITION 1 INPUT
connected to AM1 (constant 12v)
H3/7 PINK/WHITE (+) IGNITION 2
connected to IG2
H3/8 (+) FLEX RELAY INPUT 87A
no connection
H3/9 RED / BLACK (+) FUSED (30A0 ACCESSORY/STARTER INPUT
connected to AM1 (constant 12v)
PLEASE help me!

What year is the L/Cruiser and is it French market or a GRIS import?

Program it as an auto and remember you need a by-pass for the factory immobiliser, also set it as virtual tach and program a 5 second diesel delay.

I programmed correctky. I have installed bypass kit too. Still not working.
Figured out interesting thing today.
I disconnected H3/1 PINK and remote start worked. But then no ignition detection, and I cannot change settings.
What could it be?

Whenever I connect H3/1, even after engine started by remote, it shuts off everything.(viper is still working).

mmm, im confused...
this is the wiring diagram of ignition sw. im 100% sure i made correct connections.
i guess there is nothing to do with starer wires. engine started disconnecting H3/1 (but starter motor won't stop).
i uploaded a movie. i hope it helps to figure out this problem...

sorry, i dont know why i wrote 5901. but its 5704!

No real difference they both work the same way.
I recently installed a 5904 in my car, replaced an old Clifford system, somehow it fires the brakes after running for about 1 second and shuts down so I removed the brown (+) footbrake wire (H2/16) and wired it through a push switch, solved.
Make sure that wire isn't seeing a positive during the R/S process.
Please check that the NSS switch is set to on or you've soldered the leads together and your BLACK/ white at H2/2 is properly grounded (masse).

I tested just disconnecting H2/16, but the result was same.
should I wire through a push switch? removing is not enough?

No, that's OK, leave as is.
Where are you in France?

Shame, hoping France, I'm only 25 minutes from the tunnel on Friday.
A quick job, finished by 09:30 then a free day. Would have been nicer then driving back to North London!
OK do the following.
I assume your by-pass is triggered by the GWR (status wire at H2/9).
Ground that wire then hot wire from your constant feeds, first to the 2 x ignition wires then the two starter wires.
Let's see if that starts the vehicle (allow 5 seconds between ignition and start for the glow plugs).
If so try and emulate that with your R/S.
Also program virtual tach. I just remembered recent problems with a mid 90s Land Cruiser Amazon. Solved by going to V/Tach.

thanks really. i definitely would come if i was in france now. im dying.
i remember that engine started by grounding H2/9, connecting 2x ignition wires and starter wires to constant feeds.
ill go through program settings tomorrow. at mode, virtual tach, diesel timer.

is there any possibility of initial failure?

In my experience virtually NIL on a 5704.
Set it up and test the outputs on your H3 wires.
Pink
Pink/white
Orange
Violet,
also continuity between green and violet with the alarm turned off.

you mean there was no error?
im guessing there is something wrong with H3/1 or H3/6 relay in the brain box.
it stops remote start process (shuts off all the output. wont even attempt cranking (no output from starter wire)) as soon as i connect H3/1.

okay,
i'm back in work.
I replaced brain with brand-new tested one. and I resetting brain programming with bitwriter. and result stays same. means brain was fine.
now I have to find and try another possibilities...
The point is I can start engine manually as howie ll says (Posted: July 04, 2013 at 7:18 PM).
this means I connected wires correctly.
So I guess, now I have to fix connections not to shut brain off while processing remote start. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6h2DmaUvBA&feature=youtu.be)
but I don't know what could shut off the remote start process like the movie I uploaded on youtube.
things I know so far:
1. connected wires correctly as manual says.
2. brain shuts off as soon as current flows in ignition1 through brain. (as soon as I connect H3/1 or H3/6 (IG1 input/ouput). remote start works without H3/1 or H3/6. but starter motor won't stop in this case.)
if anyone have any ideas, please help me!!

I solved!
Silly. I had H2/13(Neutral safety) hooked on parking input though land cruiser is automatic. I've installed same viper on mine which is manual. that is why I was so sure that I made correct connections...
now I have H2/13 grounded. and working perfectly.
aa, but looks like virtual tach is not working on land cruiser 120.
Anyways, thanks howie ll!
