2002 trailblazer viper 5701 and i believe and xk01 was what i used to bypass the vats.

truck used to start fine. now it tries but but its not the vats. it doesnt crank it just goes "uh" like the engine turns only 1 degree.

is there a way to program it to crank longer?

I would start by checking the wire connections. Sounds like a loose wire, maybe a loose/poor ground. Check fuses. Does it try to start a number of times or just once and stops?

Also make sure the unit did not somehow 'forget' the tach signal. It sounds like it was originally installed using voltage sensing which tends to be unreliable. Connect a good tach wire (if not already done) and change settings / learn tach as needed.

yeah i dont think i used a tach wire. i think it was voltage. it does try over and over to crank, but each time its just ugh and then nothing. if the motor is hot and been running sometimes it will start with just the ugh.

i need to get in there and check some stuff. i thought it got rpm form the xk01?

also, every now and then she has had a dead battery (red top optima, new) and its only once in a while.

so i had advance test it and it passed but the alt is only putting out 13.5 volts. now they say thats passing because its above the min but i bought her a new alt anyway and im going to swap it out.

Connect the tach and set up the unit for the tach signal. That is your problem... I can almost guarantee it.

Listen to Kenny. A valid tach signal is the only real reliable way to do it because the alarm will actually know for sure whether or not the engine is running. The other methods are purely guesswork.
