Hello,

I'm doing a lot of research to make sure I get this one right. I would like to know how to connect all 3 of these components together using the datalink connectors, and not doing any w2w stuff.

I have a Lexus GS350 (2010 year) that I want to install a Firstech CM-6200 into, with a DroneMobile remote control. The iDataLink Blade-AL says specifically in its manual that it does NOT support Secure Takeover, which is why I am planning to use a Fortin EVO-ALL, which says that it does support Secure Takeover.

I read in this topic: https://www.the12volt.com/installbay/forum_posts.asp~TID~129847 that it should be possible to connect all 3 devices together with only the datalink ports, but that it might be "unreliable". Can anyone expand on that statement? If it is possible, how would I go about connecting them, since the harness doesn't have all 3 connectors available?

Why are you against W2W? It takes a few minutes to make the extra connections, you don't have to worry about how to connect everything D2D, and it's a lot more reliable...

I just haven't been able find any information (good or bad) about the reliability of the d2d connection in this type of situation, so I made an assumption that fewer wire connections generally means more reliable. It appears that that isn't always the case, especially when it comes to data connections.

I suppose the additional wiring is strictly between the bypass and the remote start, is that correct? In other words, I won't have to have any additional vehicle connections? If that's the case, then I better just get down and do it.

No, the only difference between W2W and D2D is between the bypass and the unit. W2W is generally more reliable (as long as you make proper connections) and gives you the ability to test things if you ever have an issue.

Alright, thanks Kenny for that info. I'm going to try and do this properly, since it's my own car - twisted wires, zip ties galore, and all that good stuff.

Also make sure to test everything (don't assume the wire diagrams are correct) and solder everything. I would also suggest picking up the cheap 1 way remote for daily locking / unlocking (or an EZGO). The Drone is awesome, but there is roughly a 10 second delay from when you press the button on your phone until the command is received. This isn't a big deal, but it could get annoying for daily use.

Yep, will do. I'm just sitting down at the bench (kitchen table!) to get everything prepped before going anywhere near the car. I have solder and shrink wrap all ready to go, and I'm just getting the connections between the EVO-ALL and the 6200 figured out.

I actually picked up the best remote that CompuStar sells for daily use - the Drone is for alerts when I'm out of remote range, and for GPS tracking. I've already had my previous car stolen, so I've got a separate dedicated GPS tracking module too.... paranoid now I guess.

Aftermarket electronics list so far (all being installed by yours truly):

Firstech CM-6200 remote start brain
Fortin EVO-ALL bypass module
Compustar RF-P2W901-SS remote control (1 mile range)
DroneMobile DR-2000 GPS tracking and cellular remote starting system
Brickhouse Security HCT Pro Plus GPS tracking system
Beltronics STiR Plus built-in radar detector
Laser Interceptor built-in laser detector/jammer

Future:
Prestigious Society Nav/Video Enhancement module

The cool thing is that much of this equipment can be moved to my next car, if I'm careful with my current install (bundling extra wires instead of cutting, leave a little extra length). It's going to be fun making sure everything looks as stock as possible - my goal is for an experienced tech to have to look very closely to find anything without taking the entire car apart. Even the display screen for the radar detector will be installed inside the rearview mirror for maximum integration.

Just needing a little guidance here, if anyone can help. In the EVO-ALL wiring PDF, it shows my car as having two ignition wires - Ignition 1 and Ignition 2. Both of these are very small gauge, and don't appear to carry anything more than a signal.

By contrast, my CM-6200 remote starter has only one ignition output, and it is a large, heavy gauge wire that doesn't look like something that should be connecting here. Likewise with the Starter 1 wire. Is it safe to connect these together? It seems like a bad idea to connect 2 things that the manufacturer purposely kept separate.

Can anyone tell me what's up before I start cutting and soldering on my car? I've done as much as I think I can on the remote and bypass on the bench beforehand. A pic of that is below:
