06 F350 6.0 Diesel Automatic
Python 4204 2 way remote start

After lots of research I found a lot of conflicting wiring information. I dove into the install today and sure enough found some differences on the main ignition harness. I went ahead and wired up as I thought it should be. Now I get a good crank and it seems like it wants to start but doesn't.

Here's the wires on my ignition harness and functions according to my DMM.
- Yellow - constant +
- Yellow - constant +
- RED / Black - Ignition +
- Green - Starter +
- Blue/Green - Accessory +
- Blue/Orange - constant +
- RED / Green - Ignition +
- GREEN/ Purple - constant +
- Grey / YELLOW - Ignition +

I didn't tap the Grey / YELLOW as my system only lists 2 ignition wires and I didn't tap the Blue/Orange as I didn't need another 12v +. I'm thinking the Grey / YELLOW may be the problem but I'm not sure how to wire it up.

Here's my choices from the remote start.
- Pink - ignition 1 input/output
- RED / White - 12v + input
- Orange - accessory output
- Violet - starter output
- Red - 12v + input
- Pink/White - ignition 2 / flex relay output
- Pink/Black - flex relay input 87a (if required)
- RED / Black - 12v + input

I used everything except the Pink/Black since I'm not running a flex relay. (Not even sure what that is)

Any advice or information would be appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds pretty much like the ignition wire harness shown in the 2002 - 2005 F250 / F350 Pictorial.

If the Python has a output wire called (-) 200mA Accessory Output, use it to control an external
30/40 Amp SPDT relay. Wiring below :

- Pink - ignition 1 input/output RED / Green
- RED / White - 12v + input        Yellow#1
- Orange - accessory output      Blue/Green
- Violet - starter output        Green
- Red - 12v + input  Yellow#2
- Pink/White - ignition 2        RED / Black    *** Set to Ign2
- Pink/Black - flex relay input 87a not used
- RED / Black - 12v + input        GREEN/ Purple

Relay Pin 85 to Python (-)200mA Accessory Output
Relay Pin 86 & 87 to GREEN/ Purple thru 20 Amp fuse
Relay Pin 30 to Blue/Green
Relay Pin 87a not used

Thanks! That's exactly how I have it wired now. I'll just need to go back and add that relay to the Grey / YELLOW wire.

Well that worked like a charm. Truck starts perfectly.

One other question I have though. If the truck is remote started and then either remote shut down or times out the radio stays on. It's set to stay on until the door is opened. Is there any way to change that? Don't want the batteries to go dead in such a situation. TIA

You can simulate a door opening with a relay and the Pythons Rearm output.   The Rearm output
is triggered with a Lock, or remote start time out or shutdown.

Depending on whether the F350 has Factory Keyless Entry or not, use this info from Directed to locate
a door trigger wire.

The individual door trigger wires rest at ground and go to open circuit when the doors are opened.

On vehicles without keyless entry, the wires are in each kick or at the instrument cluster, blue plug. The
driver door is lt. GREEN/ YELLOW in pin 24. The passenger door(s) is pink/lt. blue in pin 23.

On vehicles with keyless entry, the wires are in each kick or at the VSM, gray plug. The LF door is
yellow/black in pin 4. The RF door is gray/red in pin 5. The LR door is lt. GREEN/ YELLOW in pin 11. The RR
door is pink/lt. blue in pin 6.

The VSM (Vehicle Security Module) is to the right of the accelerator pedal above the transmission hump
below the radio. Not accessible from radio opening.

Once a door pin trigger wire is located cut that wire and then wire a relay as follows :
Relay Pin 85 to Python H2/24 GREEN / WHITE (-) 200mA OEM ALARM ARM OUTPUT
Relay Pin 86 to +12V constant w/ 2 Amp fuse
Relay Pin 87a to cut door pin trigger wire
Relay Pin 30 to other side of cut door pin trigger wire
Relay Pin 87 - not used

What this does:
Under normal operation the door pin wire is connected thru the relay and has no effect on the truck.
When the Python sends out the Alarm Arm Output signal the relay energizes for 0.8 seconds and
causes an open condition on Pin 30 to 87a, making the truck think that door is briefly open.
