whats the difference between the PLDATA module and the DEI 555L module...and which one is better???

I've used the pldata several times, no problems, as for the DEI unit, never used it so i can't comment.

PLDATA is easier to hook up. 555L is made by a company with a reputation of very reliable products. My shop has always used the 555L's. Can't recall ever having a problem with one.
I've read the manual for a PLDATA. Looks like a nice piece.

pldata plugs into the databus  and is very simple. 555l you have to locate and cut the passlock wires.  pldata is the way to go.
