The wife and I are buying a 2013 Touareg TDI (picking it up tomorrow) and I'm looking for some pre-install advice for adding a remote start. I will be putting in a Compustar (either 6200 or 6000... not sure yet) along with the FT-EZGO since her Sport w/ Nav. trim does not have the RFID keyless entry. I will most likely use the iDatalink Blade-AL for the bypass.
A couple quick questions that I'm looking for from anyone who has hopefully done this.
1) Any insight on what to look out for? The Blade-AL install guide looks pretty straight forward.
2) I don't think I will need to, but where can I tie into the parking lights if needed? From what I can find, the (-) wire is lin bus and to go (+) I'd have to tag all 4 corner wires and diode isolate.
3) Does anyone have the rear defroster wire information?
4) Do these have window control (comfort close) through the lock / unlock wires?

Hate to say it, Kenny, but the Fortin EVO-ALL allows a key-take-over with no engine shutdown.....

Yea, I was talking to Howie via email and he said the same thing. I'm going to think about it, but I think I would rather have it shut down with the door opening and restart in order to maintain the cleanest install possible. Then when the time comes that iData updates the firmware (which they do fairly often) I can make whatever changes I need to then. But we'll see.
Before I do anything I need to start it with the key and see if it even warms up. From what I've been seeing, the TDI's don't warm up well idling and need to be driven... so it may not even be worth it (other than for the rear defroster.. lol)
