Well, my Ipod got stolen out of my truck the other night. No, the truck wasn't locked, and yes, the Ipod was in plain sight, so I take full responsibility for it. I know better, I shouldn't have done it, but I did. So, now I lock my truck up every night. But I noticed there isn't any little blinking lights to tell the would be thief that its locked. My old car (08 Grand Prix GXP) had a little blinking light on top of the dash board when the alarm was set. I would have thought that the truck would have something? Maybe not?

Also, if it doesn't, it shouldn't be that hard to make one, should it? Im thinking just a led light, a resistor, and a flasher fuse? Any ideas? I am just wondering where to get the power wire from? My thought is I need a wire that is hot when the alarm is set. Anybody know where I could find such a wire? It on an 07 Gmc Sierra SLT with the 5.3L and 4X4.

Just another thought here, I could also use a wire that is grounded when the alarm is set? So, if my thinking is correct, all I would need is a wire that is hot or grounded when the alarm is set.

Search eBay for "varad led."

There are some fancy LED scanner lights around, and they have three wires: ground, constant power, and ignition (key-switched) power.

So, not exactly what you asked for, but pretty much what you want. When the ignition is off, the LED flashes. When the ignition is on, the LED turns off so it won't flash in your eyes while you drive.

I remember these things being very popular about ten years or so ago, but I don't see them so often today. I'm sure you'll still be able to find something, though.

There are also simple self-contained flashing LEDs.
Add a resistor for 12V operation and connect to +12V with its -ve end to ACC or IGN.

I never did get this idea going. I did look into the varad led lights on ebay though. They all seemed to have less than stellar reviews though. Said they were made cheap, broke easily, and just plain quit working. So, I think I am back to trying to make one myself. I like the idea by oldspark. Seems easy and cheap enough. But, I need a little more detail on it.

I already have a red led light with a built in resistor. It only has two wires going to it, a red and a black. Now I know the black goes to ground, and the red goes to hot. Not sure where the resistor goes.

Search for flashing LEDs - eg, gbeelectronics.
