Hello,
I have a 2001 Monte Carlo. Recently replaced the ignition switch, key and passlock sensor. Car starts fine with key.
If I try to use the remote, it goes into security mode and car will not crank or run. The key then needs to be reinitialized and works 15 minutes later. P.I.T.A.
The Astrostart model appears?? to be TX2000 and worked great before I had to replace the parts metioned above.
How can I reset or reprogram this thing to acknowledge the new passlock/ignition?
Thanks,
Dan

I assume you are getting the model number off the remote, which if that is the case all that says is the model number of the remote. As for why it is doing that, it is because you replaced the ign switch and now it needs to know what the new resistance is for the bypass. For us to tell you how to reset it you will have to disassemble the dash and find the bypass and tell us what it is or take it to your local trusted remote start expert and have them fix it for you. The system that you have installed is a great system. If it is one with the rectangle brains then you have a system that will pretty much out last your car. The remotes on the other hand will probably only last 5 years or so with proper care.
If you give me your city and state I will locate you a qualified remote start specialist and get you up and going.
