Hi guys!
I installed an aftermarket remote start on my father in law's 2001 cherokee sport w/ remote keyless entry, but no immobilizer. The instructions say to tap into the door lock (-), so if you press lock 3x on the oem key fob, the car starts...in theory.   Now here's my dilemma:
-the oem fob unlock/locks the car like it did
-if u press the lock button on the door 3x the car will start without key
-if you press the key fob lock button 3x if will NOT start the car
The remote start's activation wire is tapped into the ORANGE / purple strip wire in the driver side kick panel.
Any ideas?

You may need to change it to positive and catch this wire. I have no idea if the "Junction Block" is inside the door or where the wires hit the chassis of the vehicle.

Driver Mtr Lock ORANGE / BLACK (+) JUNCTION BLOCK

When the motor is running, does the keyfob unlock the door?

Confirmed the key fob controls both lock n unlock while car running.   Don't understand why it works with the door lock and not the fob... Is the keyless remote circuit independent of the door lock?

that's because you're on the switch wires which are independent of the remote wires the remote trigger the actual actuators not the relay that the switch controls

you will need to catch the drivers lock motor wire as stated above and run through a relay to convert its positive signal into the negative signal your remote start is looking for

Sweet a solution!!!
Anyone have a better idea on where to find the actuator wires (location, colors)?
